Lab No 11
To Determine gain at certain OS and Settling
time.
1. Objectives:
 To perform a trade-off study for lead compensation. To design a PI controller and see its effect
upon steady-state error.

2. Procedures:
2.1. Lab Task 1:
 Using MATLAB’s SISO Design Tool, set up a negative unity feedback system with.

 After plotting it on Simulink we get.

 Where as its response is.

 Adding overshoot of 20% we get.


 Now we observe by adding settling time of 2sec.

 Since closed loop root locus, overshoot and settling tine don’t seems to meet at same point we will
add Zero and Pole externally such that it changes its transient response to desired location.

 We added a zero at -3 and a pole at almost -19.8, we are receiving a transient response.
Learning Outcomes:
 We were able familiarize ourselves with MATLAB’s SISO Design Tool.
 We saw lead compensator effects the transient response of our system.
