ONLINE…… the most common word in this COVID-19 period.

This word
has become one of the most important part of our life that we can’t live
without.

From business to education, from shopping to celebrations and even

examinations, everything is online.

Good morning everyone.

Today I Ojasva Goyal of class 12 is going to share my views on the topic

“The advantages and disadvantages of online exams”

Examinations are an inevitable part of the educational ecosystem. With

evolving technologies, a globalized world, and an increasingly
competitive educational landscape, it is necessary to keep up with the
times. Along with ever-evolving teaching and learning methods,
processes like examinations must also be examined. An online
examination system is the product of such an analysis.

An online examination is basically conducting of an examination or test

online in order to measure student’s academic performance.

Traditionally, these evaluations were conducted orally or through written

tests using pen and paper. Students gathered in an examination hall or
room where a question paper was handed to students and students had
to write answers within the allotted time period in presence of a
invigilator.

With an online examination, all these traditional elements continue to

persist, however, the mode of test-taking has changed – instead of a
physical examination hall, students instead log into an online
examination system through which they access the question paper and
share their answers. The online examination system is a culmination of
the old and familiar and the new and innovative.

This transformation from physical examination hall to virtual examination

hall has many advantages but some disadvantages too.
When exams are conducted online, no printing of question paper is
required and so it is eco-friendly. Automatically graded multiple-choice
online examinations are extremely convenient and save time. Moreover,
online assessments allow candidates to save on travelling time.

Also the labour cost and the cost of hiring an examination hall is
minimised.

Institutes just need a proper online system or application for the smooth
conduction of the online exams and students need a mobile, laptop or
desktop and a proper internet connectivity for attempting the exam.

But with it there are many drawbacks of online exams also.

The implementation of an online examination system requires every user

to be well versed with the system and the user must have proper internet
connectivity with proper upgraded devices to attempt the online exams.

Due to the nature of its format to some degree it becomes an open book
exam.

And this inability of invigilating becomes the greatest disadvantage.

But this disadvantage can be eliminated by the student’s personal strong

motivation and commitment of being honest with oneself.

One must remember that his result depends on the discipline, hard work,
persistence and conscientiousness.

While online exams have their strengths and flaws, the pros surely
outshine the cons. In an ever-evolving education scenario, online exams,
and e-assessments are at the centre of it all.

So, I would like to conclude with the following words

“WHETHER IT IS ONLINE OR OFFLINE……DON’T TAKE STRESS DO

YOUR BEST AND ALL THE BEST”

THANK YOU
