Introduction

Maxwell GeoServices is a leading supplier of Data Management Solutions to the mining and exploration industry.
Currently there is an opportunity for a Data Management Consultant to join our team, based in Johannesburg, South
Africa.

Having experience in a similar role in the mining industry would be beneficial. The ideal candidate will be a
charismatic, innovative, self-starter capable of working within a team-oriented environment but also able to take
responsibility and ownership of their projects. Attention to detail with superior client focus and communication skills is
essential.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Compilation and administration of geological and production databases

Monitoring and reporting on geological and production activities

Provide insights and recommendations to the business

Understanding and support of Maxwell solutions and software products

Client consulting and communication

Desired Experience & Qualification

Required skills:

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mining industry

Minimum 3 years’ experience with geological and production databases

 Good understanding of the exploration and mining process

Minimum of 3 years underground or open cast mining experience

Understanding of resource, reserve and grade control models and how these are used in a production
database.

Understanding the movement of ore and how various aspects of load and haul can influence the ore
movement.

Understanding production geology

Good knowledge of geological mapping and sampling in underground and open cast environment

Good knowledge of grade control, blast movements

Understanding of mine reconciliation (Planned and actual production data)

Understanding of geotechnical data and how it is used in the mining process

Understanding workflows and procedures for underground or open cast mining

SQL skills are essential

Have good critical thinking and problem solving skills

Project Management skills

Willing and able to travel

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Team player with client focus
