THE MEANINGS BEHIND THE COLORS AND SHAPES THAT YOU USED PER LAYER
The First Layer
I decided to draw Wings on the first layer because people tend to describe me as someone
who always aims to be on the top. However, the lines inside the wings symbolize sorrow, defeat,
and challenges I have been through towards my journey. I have chosen blue as the color of the
wings because it signifies my calmness and tranquility despite difficulties in life. Moreover, the
crown shape on the outer part of the mandala represents God. He is my support in reaching my
dreams and gives me hope in times of despair. Lastly, people might hate or break me, but I chose
to be like a diamond who stands still and never let my shine dull because of other people's
opinions.
The Second Layer
Since when I was a kid, I am determined to work a career towards medicine. The upper
curve symbolizes me. I color it with royal blue because it is my dream of wearing blue scrubs in
the future. I want to become a physician who offers empathy when nobody else can, helps to lift
spirits when it is painful to bear, and become the light of ease the gurgling fear. Furthermore, the
sky-blue curve below signifies all the people who lift me when I stumble and bring out the best
in me.
The Third Layer
I colored this layer with a black pen because it signifies my fears, rejections, and the
things I want to let out. The black background shows my situation right now. I am isolated from
problems and my anxiety is killing me. However, the pink petals embedded in the black
background symbolizes hope in times of darkness. Truly, this layer shows that It is more
important to focus on the brighter side of life and disregard the negativities surrounding it.
The Fourth Layer
I have drawn a purple hyacinth as the core of my mandala because my life is full of
sadness and sorrows. I am a ray of sunshine for my friends, and that is the reason why I do not
want them to know that I am struggling. However, like some other flowers, I choose hyacinth as
a representation of myself because even if my life is miserable, I am still capable of blooming
and standing tall until I reach the peak of my success.

WHY YOU CHOSE THAT SHAPE OR IMAGE TO OVERALL REPRESENT YOUR SENSE
OF SELF?
When you look closely at the mandala I have drawn, you can visualize an image of a
rising dragonfly. Like a dragonfly, I started small, then after some time, I began to develop my
wings and learn how to fly despite the challenges and adversities life has to offer. Moreover, the

light blue curve arc below the dragonfly symbolizes the people beneath my wings. My family,
friends, loved ones, and those you believed in me when I did not believe in myself. On the other
hand, the upper royal blue curve represents my dream of becoming a physician. My eagerness
for helping others and my patriotism contributed to my dream of becoming a physician. I believe
that there is no more gratifying than knowing that I positively impacted an individual's life. I
focused on this goal throughout life because it is a goal worth putting on the pedestal.

WHAT ASPECTS OF YOURSELF OR PERSONALITY WERE YOU ABLE TO UNCOVER
WHILE MAKING YOUR MANDALA?
The hardest thing to understand is ourselves. Making the mandala gives me the
opportunity to self-reflect and get to know myself more physically, emotionally, mentally, and
spiritually. By doing this activity, I can relax both my mental and physical self. Coloring the
mandala is a highly effective route to stress relief. Moreover, illustrating shapes per layer allows
me to vent out my emotions and express them through drawings. Lastly, I achieve spiritual
fulfillment in this activity since It leads me to understand more about myself. Self-realization
forms the deepest cracks on my spiritual being. But it also uncovers my inner strengths and
weaknesses.
Indeed, creating a mandala is a healing nature since it increases our psychological well-
being, and has positive effect on the aspects of life.
