One Monday morning, Bayu is coming late at school. The school is holding a flag
ceremony and the school gate is closed. Bayu is standing in front of the gate and is giving respect
to the flag rising. He is doing it like all of his friends in the school yard. When the flag ceremony
is over, Mrs. Maryam is opening the gate. Bayu says sorry for being late to his teacher. Mrs.
Maryam asks Bayu to come into the classroom.

Mrs. Dasimah is a cake seller. She is hard working. She is selling traditional cake. The
cake is very delicious. Mrs. Dasimah is carrying a wooden tray. It is big. There are three kinds of
traditional cakes. They are lupis, chenil and klepon. Mrs. Dasimah is selling her cakes around her
neighborhood. The people like the cakes. They think they are healthy and cheap.
Mrs. Dasimah is selling the traditional cakes in morning. Now she is serving her
customer. She is sitting at the side of the road. She is grating the coconut on her wooden tray.
Her customer is not patient to eat the traditional cake. He is sitting at the side of the road. Mrs.
Dasimah is very happy. She is going home now. Her cakes are over.

holiday. They are playing marbles in the yard. The yard is clean and it is
very nice to play in it. Tomy and his friend are bringing marbles. Tomy’s
marbles are yellow. Doni’s marbles are red and Fredi’s marbles are green.
They are very happy. After they are playing marbles, they are going home.

Today is a semester holiday. Jane and her friends, Sonia and Vella
are having a picnic. They are going to the mountain. They are going there
by motorcycle. Jane is bringing a camera. She is taking picture of the
mountain and valley. They are very beautiful. The air is cool and the trees
are green. The birds are flying in the sky and some are singing on the tree.

sheep. He is eating two bananas and drinking water. At four o’clock
Hasan is going home with his sheep. The sheep are walking behind him.
In The Restaurant
Helen and Paula are hungry. They are going to the restaurant to
have dinner. They are going there by a motorcycle. It is rather far. The
restaurant is Damai Restaurant. It is big and clean. Now Helen and Paula
are in the restaurant. They are sitting at table four. They are waiting for a
waitress to order food and drink.

An Ice Boy
Allan was an ice boy. He lived in a village with his parents. They were poor. They
worked for a rich person. Looking at their parents’ condition, Allan had to work to help
them. He worked part-time. He sold ice after school or on holidays. When he got money
from selling ice, he gave it to his mother. She was glad that Allan was a good boy.
Allan was never ashamed to his friends when he met them. He kept on selling
his ice. He just thought how to get money to help his parents. He never felt jealous
with his friends who had much time to play. Allan began selling his at one o’clock and
he came home at four or five o’clock in the afternoon.
Allan strolled in a narrow road but had crowded houses. He offered his ice to
the children or people by using his big bell. He rang it loudly to attract the children’s
interest. The children had known Allan’s bell well. When Allan rang it, the children ran
out of their house noisily like a market. Allan felt very happy because all his ice were
over and he got much money. He gave some of the money to the ice maker and some
to his mother.
One day, Allan got a bad day. He sold his ice in the same place. He sat in a
narrow road. He rang his bell so loudly while waiting for the children. Suddenly an old
man got out of his house holding his swollen cheek and spoke unclearly throwing
broken bricks to him. Looking at the old man angrily, Allan took the ice thermos running
fast and fell down. All of his ice spread on the road and they were dirty. Looking at the
situation quiet, the old man took all the ice and ate them.
