Sizing of Pump

A pump is a device that moves fluids (liquids or gases), or sometimes slurries, by mechanical
action. Usually most of the pumps are used for moving volumes from lower places to higher
ones.

Type of pumps
1- Positive displacement pump

2- Centrifugal pump

Given Data:
Table:??
Inlet pressure (KPa) 100
Outlet pressure (KPa) 300
Mass flowrate (kg/h) 14132.49
Density of the mixture (kg/m3) 1016.4

Assumptions

• Steady State.

• The pipe is very smooth with no fitting, so the

friction losses are neglected.

• No elevation Δz=0 m.

• No difference in velocity.

• pump efficiency η 75%.
