Winthrop’s Association of Black Journalists start’s its podcast on the University’s campus late October. This podcast will
be aired on Spotify and Apple Music as an outreach to students.
“We wanted to start this podcast to reach out to a broader audience than those who are interested in communications,”
said the current president of WUABJ, La J’ai Reed. “This podcast will not just focus on what we do as an organization,
but it will also focus on current events that affect society. Whether it’s’ entrainment, the BLM movement, anything is
open for discussion,” Reed says.
Until the release date of their first podcast, WUABJ continues to work on events to be provided on campus and host
biweekly meetings for its members.

The purpose of WUABJ, in terms of its relationship with the National Association of Black Journalists, shall be: To work
in accord with such officers as the student representative, to educate members and the University's community about the
history of NABJ, as well as issues the association seeks to address in the journalism industry, to network with both
aspiring and professional journalists, and to interact with fellow student chapters in journalism-related matters.
