ADOLESCENT LITERACY

IN THE 21ST CENTURY

THE EVOLUTION OF
LITERACY
The definition of being literate in today's world has evolved

completely. Being literate no longer consists of an individual

having a specific set of skills, but rather being able to navigate

technology in a world that is full of it.

TEACHERS & TECHNOLOGY

Technology in the 21st century has been a different

challenge for teachers. Educators have found the need

to come up with techniques that engage their students

as much as possible.

LEARNING WITH NO
BOUNDARIES
Now that we have the technology, it is much easier to learn

from anywhere. The benefit of technology is that it "exposes

learners to opinions, perspectives, and norms outside of their

own" (NCTE).

ACCOMODATIONS FOR
STUDENTS
With the uprising of technology, "learners with disabilities

should be provided with access to text, tools, and

information" whenever in need (NCTE).
