The session started at exactly 9 0’ clock in the morning with a prayer led by Mrs. Joy
Tabaldo and was presided by Brgy. Captain Gary Pacis. A warm greeting sat the tone
and mood of the day.

The first part of the session was acknowledging issues and concerns of each
Committee Heads. Kag. Remedios Celis reminded everyone to not let anyone burn
their garbage and that no one should not be exempted by the punishment even the
barangay officials.

Mrs. Joy Tabaldo reported about the previous activity of the Clean and Green
Program which is the Tree Planting at the Nappuaran Water Impounding. Everyone
applauded with such achievement.
Mrs. Tabaldo then got the cue to present another Proposal in lined with the Clean and
Green Program of the Barangay which is the Backyard Gardening. The main
objectives of this project is to;

1. Develop strong bonding among family members through backyard

gardening.
2. Enjoin all members of the community to participate in the Clean and Green
Program of the barangay.
3. Minimize hunger and malnutrition especially in this time of pandemic

Which led the group to suggest much better title for the program which is FAMILY
GARDENING CONTEST.

Contest Mechanics.

1. All family/ household are encouraged to participate in this activity.

2. Interested family participants are required to register through the Barangay
Kagawad assigned to their Zone. Registration is open from September 22 to
October 1, 2020.
3. A validation will be conducted on or before land preparation.
4. Seeds will be provided through the barangay fund.
5. There must be a minimum of five variety vegetables.
6. Minimum land area is 100 square meters.
7. Barangay Captain Gary Pacis and the Clean and Green Program Coordinator
Mrs. Joy Tabaldo will conduct a visitation on November 8, 2020 for the selection of
top 2 per zone.
8. The selected top 2 family gardens in each zone will complete the final 14 entry for
the final judging on the third week of November 2020.
9. Judges will be invited from the Department of Agriculture and other related
agencies.
10. There will be three announced winners (eg. Champion, 1 st runner-up, 2nd runner-
up) and will receive a cash prize.
11. Awarding will be conducted during the Barangay Christmas Festival.

Criteria for Judging:

• Garden Quality (land area, site, layout) - 30%

• Garden Sustainability/Maintenance (well maintained, presence of water source)-
20%
• Crops Variety (plot has a variety of nutritious crops) - 20%
• Family involvement with validation-30%
