CHAPTER 1

Problem and Its Background

Introduction

Nowadays people are focusing in herbal plants especially those who are common in the
environment .One of the example is the guava plant ( Psidium guajava Linn).Based on research
this plant is good for healing and treating wounds and other skin infections . People, researchers,
scientist were focusing to medical plants. They want to prove that there are plants that effective
against diseases especially skin. This study refers to a plant that can be made into a tea and
improves its quality while using this (guava leaves). Instead of boiling the leave, now it’s easy to
apply. Boiling takes much time. Guava (Psidium Guajava) is valued for its delectable taste and
aroma. Guava can be considered as the ‘apple of the topics’ for its high vitamin C and mineral
content. It is native to tropical America where it occurs wild .Early Spanish and Portuguese
colonizers brought it to New World, the East Indies and Guam. It was soon adopted as a crop in
Asia and in warm parts of Africa and is now widely grown all over the tropics and subtropics. As
a cheap nutritious fruit with a wide adaptability to diverse climatic and soil conditions, guava is
an ideal crop to grow in developing countries.
GUAVA LEAVES
Guava leaves are regarded as herbal treatment for several diseases due to their
medicinal properties. Guava is a useful fruit that is rich in vitamins, antioxidants, potassium,
fibers in various elements that are good for human skin, hair, normal blood pressure and can be
used for incredible weight loss effect. Well, guava leaves are nearly as useful as the fruit itself.
That is why you have to understand how to make tea of guava leaves and create yourself a
beneficial drink for everyday of your life. Firstly, the guava leaf tea is delicious. Secondly, guava
leaves give you all their magical powers through a cup of tea. Thirdly, you can improve your
health and well-being by this affordable and easy-to-prepare-at-home drink.
Statement of the Problem

This study seeks the possibility of Guava (Psidium Guajava) as natural tea.

Especially it sought to answer the following questions:

1. Can guava leaves be a natural tea?


2. Is there any significant relationship between the synthetic tea and natural tea?

Scope and Delimitation

This study aims to determine the health benefits and the significant relationship between
synthetic tea and guava leaf tea. The participants will be the persons with age of 40 to 50 years old.

Objective of the Study

The General objective is to determine the health benefits between the synthetic and natural
tea. The researchers want to point out the possible effects of synthetic tea from a natural tea. Lastly, is to
prove that natural tea is better than synthetic tea.
Significance of the Study

The study shall benefit the following:

Students- this study will help the students to know the essence of having a natural way on how to
medicate in a simple way.

Sick Person- this study will help them to save money and to reduce taking medicines with harmful effects
that may lead them to severe illness.

Community- this study will help the citizens to know the natural way of medication which they can apply
in their lives.
