Motion and Speed

OBJECTIVES:
1. To provide the pupils better understanding on the different concepts related to speed and
velocity.
2. To measure one’s own speed and velocity .
3. To enumerate factors that could affect speed.
4. To suggest ways on how to be careful to avoid accidents while doing the activity.

I. PROBLEM: Who is the fastest student among Grade V – E. Aguinaldo?


II. MATERIALS:
Stop watch Chalk
Activity sheet Pen

III. PROCEDURE:
1. Using a chalk place a starting Mark and an end mark on the ground that will be chosen
by your teacher.
2. Set the stop watch to zero.
3. Assign a groupmate to be timekeeper and another as a recorder.
4. Ask groupmates to form a line one after the other.
5. The first one on the line will start the activity from the starting line they will be asked
to walk up to the finish line then, jog to the finish line and then run up to the finish
line all these shall be recorded.
6. Repeat step number 5 up to the last student in the group.
7. Record the data.
8. Go back to the classroom, compute the speed and velocity.
9. Analyze the data and decide which among the member is the fastest.
10. Be ready with the presentation. Leader and assistant leader will be the one to present.
