E Description

Engagement Students will create accounts and join our class on Checkology
(https://get.checkology.org/what-is-checkology/). Once students join, they take a 20
question survey to see what they know about news, journalism, misinformation, etc. This
hooks students by relating the content to real life and showing them how much there is
to learn about news and journalism. The picture below is what students see once they
sign in and are ready to take the survey.

Engagement While the survey is not a grade, the answers to the survey will serve as an assessment to show
Assessment how much or how little students know about news and journalism prior to us talking about it in
class.

Exploration Students will take notes on a PowerPoint presentation that includes real-life examples of
misinformation and the infozones they will need to learn. The PowerPoint slides and
notes are listed below. The infozones notes will be done on Monday 11/9 and the
misinformation notes will be done on Tuesday 11/10.
