lived? AFM Malawi is our world, only
youth department, only church and a
place we can call home. But what have
you and I done for her so far? Mordecai
has pinpointed the fact in Esther 4:14
and I quote, “……..….And who knows
for such a time as this?” My question to
the youth is; why are you where you
are? If we’re for a change, let’s focus on
positive not negative because looking
back or doing the very same things and
expect change will remain a dream.

Knowing that behind every life is the
divine will and purpose, I urge young
people to live life worth of Christian
values through searching God’s wisdom
pertaining to Proverb 1:7. I also agree
with Paul in 2 Tim 1:22 and I quote,
“flee evil desires of youth, pursue

along with those who call on the lord

So that we may shake nations and hear God’s call
For we are fearless like David not like Saul
The call of the youth is now let’s rise for goliath to fall
The most important freedom is to be who you really are
There can’t be any change in the world
Until there’s a personal change in him or her
Because without change,
One cannot be called madam or sir
Let’s be the youth of change
People with all imperfections
Because in reality imperfections
Are what define us
Our youth of today
Wake up, raise up make a change
So when the youth of tomorrow comes

Every young Christian reflection on
sanctification must wrestle with the
reality of lingering temptation to sin.
More pointedly, every Christian
struggles with the reality of
temptation, not as an abstract idea but
as alluring call to stray from the
narrow gospel road of life.
Sources of temptations
The world, the flesh and the devil are
the sources of temptation and they are
viewed as in opposition to the trinity.
In their experience as sojourners and
strangers on earth, Christians will
face temptation. Being tempted is not
yielding to temptation.
Types of Temptations
Natural temptation – each of us
have natural desires and this type
temptation comes from the flesh i.e
the desire for acceptance, sex, food
and more
Preferment temptation – God desire
is to bless our work and this may lead
to promotion and success. When that
happens, a temptation of greed, pride,
arrogance and compromise follows
and this comes from the world
Faith Temptation – God purposely
allows the devil to test a Christian to
be mature and complete. Believers
must consider it pure joy when they
face trials that their faith might
produce perseverance just like Job.
God’s given resources to overcome
temptations: Scripture, fasting,
prayer, watchfulness and confession
being distinctively powerful are God-
given means whereby believers fight
temptations.
Like Jesus, believers must rely on
scripture in times of temptation as an
anchor that moors them against the
pull of sin’s tide. Scriptures
encourages believers that Christ has
faced the same temptations as them
and overcome. Every temptation
believer’s face is part of the common
human experience and God is so
meticulous in governing his world
that even in every temptation he will
make a way to escape it. Believers
take comfort in this truth: God knows
how to rescue them from temptations
and further, that by submitting
themselves to God, Christians may
“resist the devil” and set him to fight.
The gospel provides tempted
believers great hope.
Fasting, never popular, and
regrettably ignored, trains believers
to deny themselves the normal
comforts of eating and contentment
for a season, so that they might seek
God more intensely, express remorse
and lament, humble themselves and
prepare for seasons of temptation.
Fasting trains believers to resist
natural and lawful urges so that when
they face illicit promptings, they have
trained themselves to say “no”.
The discipline of watching is
clearly biblical but appears quite
infrequently in contemporary
treatments of spiritual disciplines.
Watchfulness is situational
awareness, a proactive posture
whereby one pays active attention to
themselves and their surroundings.
For instance, how you dress as a
young lady, friends you encounter
with, the stories you confer and not
forgetting places you are always
found could in one way or the other
expose you to temptation.
Prayer, intentional and devoted
prayer, is another of God’s
appointed means for resisting
temptations and is the counterpart to
watchfulness. Prayer acknowledges
our spiritual weakness and
dependence on God, and prayer
before, during, and after times of
temptations reinforce the Christian’s
dependence on God’s mercy and
power.
Confession is an interpersonal
discipline with a beautiful promise:
“Confess your sins to one another,
that you may be healed” (James
5:16). While James addresses the
culmination of temptations (yielding
into sin), his admonition to
interpersonal confession and prayer
seem appropriate for earlier stages
of temptation.
Mind you, no one should say “God
is tempting me” for God does not
tempt anyone.

union executive council reflected
the significance of organizing
seminars across Malawi for the
youth leaders as a foundation
stone of objective attainment for
the youth ministry in Malawi. It
was brainstormed therefore that
these seminars should be
conducted at regional level with
an assign of equipping youth
leaders with leadership skills,
uniting youths, strengthening
coordination and enhancing free

Following a proper scrutiny,

southern region was chosen as a
breaking ground for these
seminars steered by the National
Young People’s Union. More
than 20 youth leaders from all
districts except Mwanza attended
the seminar held at Ndilande.

eastern region youth leaders held

Romans 12:13 says; When God’s
people are in need, be ready to help
them. Always be eager to practice
hospitality. Throughout the scripture,
God calls his people to display
hospitality to strangers, orphans,
foreigners, the poor, widows and to
everyone around
(Deut. 10:18-19). God commanded
Israelites to deliberately leave the
edges of the harvest for the sojourner
and the poor (Lev. 23:22). Thus,
hospitality is both an attitude of the
heart and also an exercise of the
hand. It pursues to turn strangers into
friends through acts of welcome and
generosity. When we think of
hospitality we should imagine of the
biblical hospitality like hosting a
small group, inviting orphans to a
dinner, giving alms, visiting the sick,
going to the hospitals and prisons for
cleaning exercise and many. Let’s
love one another.

The national youth set aside every
first Saturday of the month as a
day of fasting and prayer of the
youth across Malawi. This was
deliberately positioned to instate
the spirit of prayer in our youth
for spiritual growth and for
holistic intervention in all the
programs. Prayer best defined as a
communication between man and
God is so vital and we should
never disconnect the line to the
power station of life, glory and

allocated, but, we do not condemn
them as we are aware of some
factors contributed to the effect.
However, we hereby urge our
youth in general to prioritize

accomplishment.

Hygiene is very important in our lives
because it resists bacteria that can harm our
health. This is so because bacteria grow
rapidly in a dirty place. It is therefore
important to clean our environment, our
homes, and ourselves as keeping
surroundings clean and tidy can save us
from any kind of diseases.
The following are few basic things that we
must keep clean in our daily life:
TEETH
Teeth help us digest food. When we eat, the
food particles get stuck in the small spaces
between our teeth. When we don’t brush
our teeth after meal and before sleep, the
food particles get rotten, and bacteria starts
growing on it causing a serious harm on our
teeth and makes our mouth stinky. It is
advisable to change our tooth brushes every
three months.
NAILS
Nails protect our fingertips from injury.
However, they can be harmful if they’re too
big, and they are not cut regularly. They are
also a threat to healthy if not kept clean as a
large number of pathogenic microbes can
accumulate under them. Cut your hand
nails once a week, and toe nails once every
2-3 weeks as they grow slower than hand
nails. Before the procedure, it is
recommendable to soak the hands and feet
in warm soapy water as it softens the nails.
BATHING
Our skin has small holes (pores). Some of
them absorbs oxygen and other releases
some oil that moisturize the skin. Some of
them emit sweat and harmful substances
that accumulate in the body. Dust and
sweat can clog the pores of our skin
causing the breakouts of acne and
lethargic skin. It is necessary to clean our
body every day to remove dust particles.
WASHING CLOTHES AND
BEDDINGS
Dirty clothes should be washed with
laundry soap before wearing them again
and hand them in the sun to dry. The sun’s
rays kills some disease causing germs and
parasites. Change underwear everyday
even more than once and consider
replacing them every year.
IMPORTANCE OF HYGIENE
Disease prevention
Good hygiene lowers risk for disease and
illnesses commonly spread through
viruses and bacteria.
Social and professional acceptance
Spending time around those who fail to
demonstrate good hygiene can be
unpleasant due to factors such as bad
breath and body odor, and it increases
your own risk for disease and infection.
Poor hygiene can have negative results on
social relationships and business.
Higher confidence and self-esteem
Being clean and well-groomed can help
you feel more confident and comfortable
both physically and mentally.

Mountain. It is just next to
Likhubula falls where the fall
drains its water straight into the
dam. The Dam; Dziwe la
nkhalamba is estimated to be 10
metres but not more than
15metres in diameter. It is
believed the dam is 65 metres
deep.

see us through the intended years.
Buying Motor Vehicles
As youth department, with the
programs set aside to accumulate
funds, we are planning within our
term of office to buy two motor
vehicles (a lorry and a minibus) for
business purposes and church deeds.
Office and a business center
We also have a strong desire of
having a national youth office
during our term of office to help us
with administrative substances. We
imagine of buying computers and
printers for that office and the same
apartment would be used as business
center for the youth.
Agricultural Programs
We would like to introduce
agricultural programs for our youth.
AFM is blessed with big plots like in
Ntchisi, Bangula, and Dedza but we
rarely utilize those spaces. For
instance, introducing chicken
farming in Bangula, or possibly
potato farming in Ntchisi
potato farming in Ntchisi thereby
indulging ourselves into agribusiness
to increase cash inflow to our
department and church at large.
However, the plan is to buy a land for
farming and other programs of youth’s
interest. We believe by years to come;
every district will be empowered to
have its own piece of land and with
this program we could be donating
some of our produce to the needy,
hospitals and disaster prone areas.
All we could ask is your support; walk
with us on this journey of building
AFM youth in Malawi. A prosperous
youth is possible if we join forces.

Yeyeye magazine it’s a booklet that will make you mouth agape
taking a glance at the immense works of Christian young men and
women in the church of AFM Malawi. They’ve all worked hard in
the year for the betterment of the church and you now can see the
bearing of fruits through a well branded magazine that is giving hope
to the church. The much- anticipated results from the church youth
could be noted, as much has been achieved and blossomed through
struggles and setbacks the youths have passed. Economic factors and
covid-19 have been thorns in the flesh of the youth but still didn’t go
back but carried their plans on with all potentials for new things.
They say youths are leaders of tomorrow. However, against all odds,
youths of AFM have proved it wrong and demonstrated that they are
leaders of today. They have carried difficult tasks and passed
challenging paths and yet, they didn’t GO BACK OR WEARY with
youth ministry. That’s why this magazine published to showcase
some of the undergone program and to accolade the work well done.
It is true that being a young person is so thrilling. But being an
inactive young person is so pathetic. I therefore urge young people to
work extra hard for their own benefit and for the success of the
church and nation at large. This is the time for the youth to rise and
shine; it is the time the youth should be regarded as the most
essential gear for development not as bench carters.
I am firmly convinced that what today’s youth need most is the
gospel of Christ Jesus the Lord. He is the one in whom the fullness of
God is found, and he’s the one whom we are filled (Col 2:9-10).
Moreover, he is the one who gives the true meaning of life.
