Characters: Cardo, Lorenza, parents, babies

Setting: Town and the cemetery in Pasuquin

Conflict: Cardo suffered very much because of the people around him. They bit him always as he smiled to babies
and they show their innocent smile to Cardo.

Theme: The story shows great love to his family. Even he suffered in pain cause by man he never gets mad at
them. Instead, he keeps smiling and think of his family to others.

Plot:

Introduction: In a town of Pasuquin there was a man named Cardo who has a distorted body and ugly face. Many
people afraid of him especially the mother who has a baby.

Rising Action: Mothers are afraid as Cardo smiled at their babies. They thought that he would get them. They thought
this because as cardo smiled to the babies, the babies smiled back to him in spite of his ugliness.

Climax: Town’s people always beat him when they saw Cardo smiled at their babies. They beat him near to
death but Cardo didn’t retaliate. He just tried protects himself with his arms. After that he went back to
his house with his body bleeding and he is groaning. He keeps coming back to the town to see babies
through the widows and smiled at them. Some stories say that her wife left him and the he killed his
baby and the ghost of the baby kept hunting him with his innocent smile.

Falling Action: He saw Cardo at the old cemetery and told him all his resentment in his life. Cardo is facing on the grave
of his wife and child. He now knew why Cardo act as he does.

Denouement: Cardo said that he seeks the truth of life. He asked why people treated him bad. He wondered why God
took his family to him for he did good and prayed hard. He wondered if there is any good in life.
