Journal #6: Future Classroom Diagram

1. Teacher Cart- this will hold my computer, phone, and act as a desk. It will be raised up so

that I can walk up to it and use it. I am not usually a fan or sitting in the classroom, but I

also put a chair behind the teacher table to use. The teacher cart will be my source for

internet, the projector, grades, and communication with parents and school personnel.

2. Counter/Shelves- this will hide all of the things that students might need, including food,

school supplies like paper or markers, student work, a sink, medical supplies, extra

things, and miscellaneous things I will probably find myself with in the classroom. It also

hosts the snack bowl of healthy snacks for students to eat!

3. Closet- this will contain all the manipulatives for lesson planning, games, cards, musical

instruments like Boomwhackers, and clothes like coats or boots for children who forgot

theirs.

4. Reading Island- this is the reading haven! I want my kids to have any book they want!

There will be comfortable seating and opportunities for students to make their own

bookmarks. I want this to be a place where students can find what they love, see new

perspectives, and learn new things.

5. Student Stuff- this is a place for students to place their binders or other work. There will

be a place for each student to decorate their section. It will be for supplies that students

want to leave at school. I also want the turn-in tray to be on top of this shelf.

6. Technology- this will be the technology the class will use, depending on where I teach. I

would prefer this to be iPads or Chromebooks or laptops for students to use for research

or projects. I understand that this might not be attainable, but it would be awesome!

7. Projector/Whiteboard/Info- this will be the place where I will teach a majority of the

lessons, post information, and take attendance or lunch count. I like that classrooms have

this big white space for many opportunities.

8. Teacher Table- this is the typical Kidney bean-shaped table for small group work.

Students could even sit here for large class instruction! It is nice for grading and other

work that I will have to do as a teacher.

9. Alternative Seating- I love this! I want my classroom to have traditional desks, bean bags,

pillows, yoga balls, triangle seating, and even the carpet floor. Students should have the

opportunity to sit in different seating so they can be moving around and feel the most

comfortable.

10. Snack Bowl- this is my favorite part of my classroom. I want my students to have food

and basic needs in the classroom. I would like it to be healthier options, like fruit and

vegetables and organic snacks.

11. School Supplies- this is the students personalized school supplies. I have seen this before

in classrooms. Students can grab pencils, crayone, glue, and other everyday things in

these containers that sit on each table!
