Multigenre Portfolio Rubric

INCLUDES ALL REQUIRED PARTS:


An introduction 20 points, maximum
The proposal 10 points, maximum
The annotated bibliography 10 points, maximum
5 genre pieces 20 points each, maximum
(Any additional genre pieces for extra credit) 10 points each, maximum
Your works cited page 10 points, maximum

INTRODUCTION – MAX 20 POINTS


The following areas will be judged according to this scale:
Exceeds Expectations – 5 points
Meets Expectations – 4 points
Approaches Expectations – 3 points
Below Expectations – 2 points
Fails to Meet Expectations – 0 points
• At least 3 pages long
• Introduces the theme of your portfolio and how it connects to your major or intended
career path
• Discusses each of the genres you’ve chosen, why you chose them, and how they connect
to the larger theme
• Talks about the experience of writing the portfolio this semester – easy, hard, fun, boring,
etc. parts

PROPOSAL – MAX 10 POINTS


You will receive 10 points for including the proposal you submitted at the beginning of the
semester

ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY – MAX 10 POINTS


The following areas will be judged according to this scale:
Exceeds Expectations – 5 points
Meets Expectations – 4 points
Approaches Expectations – 3 points
Below Expectations – 2 points
Fails to Meet Expectations – 0 points
• Citations are complete and cited correctly
• Annotations are completed correctly, at least 150 words each, and include both a short
summary and an evaluation of the source
GENRE PIECES – MAX 20 POINTS, EACH
The following areas will be judged according to this scale:
Exceeds Expectations – 5 points
Meets Expectations – 4 points
Approaches Expectations – 3 points
Below Expectations – 2 points
Fails to Meet Expectations – 0 points

• REQUIREMENTS: Each genre meets the general requirements to fit within that category
• KNOWLEDGE & UNDERSTANDING: Each piece demonstrates knowledge and understanding of
the genre and how it connects to the larger theme
• CONTENT: At least 3 genres include outside sources; any visual genres include a
description of what is being presents; the content is clearly connected to the larger theme
• SPELLING, GRAMMAR, & ORGANIZATION: Each piece is free of spelling and grammar errors;
each piece is well organized and clearly presented
Any additional genre pieces submitted beyond the required 5 are considered extra credit and will
earn a maximum of 10 points each, using the scale above with the total score divided in half to
be out of 10.

WORKS CITED – MAX 10 POINTS
