Teachers Placement Planning

Grand Canyon University: EAD – 536

11/11/20
I plan to reallocate staff within and then hire externally to fill the vacant positions. I

believe this will give current staff an opportunity to assign new work assignments that fit their

skill sets appropriately, while also bringing in qualified individuals to fill specific spots. District

policy states that without the implementation and action steps of an improvement plan teachers

are guaranteed a job, but not necessarily guaranteed the job of their choice. If a teacher has a

documented and governing board approved improvement plan and they have not shown adequate

improvement, then there are steps leadership can take to remove the staff member all together.

As we continue to fill these positions we will follow the steps outlined by the district for

teacher screening. We will begin by accepting applications for posted positions to include a

resume and cover letter. From there myself in the administration team will review the

applications and conduct phone screening with any candidates we feel would be good additions

to our team. Specifically, we're looking for people who are personable, reflective, and willing to

be a team player. After conducting this phone screening, we will create a list of applicants to

bring in for interviews.

It is crucial at this time we love to fill our staff with people who are willing to collaborate

with staff members and community members to build a sense of involvement and trust. Based on

the scenario given, there are several members that lack trust and accountability and it overall

affects their grade-level teams as well as the school as a whole. As we reallocate staff and

conduct interviews this will need to be our first priority as well as finding reflective and highly-

qualified teachers. If we cannot secure highly-qualified teachers for certain areas there will need

to be an understanding that a significant amount of coaching and training will go into the job and

that we as the administration team need to be ready to provide that support.
