Week 3 and 4
General Direction: Read and analyze each activity given on this module. You may answer all activity in one
whole sheet of paper.
In this lesson, you will work patterns. Recognizing and extending patterns are important skills needed for learning
concepts related to an arithmetic sequence.
Arithmetic
Examples Sequence Non- examples
Process Questions:
1. How did you determine the examples and non-examples of an arithmetic sequence?
2. How will you know that a given sequence is arithmetic or not?
After reading pages 18-23 of your textbook and watching video clip presenting Arithmetic Sequence, answer
page 26 Mental Math Exercise 1.2 A (1-10) and C(21-24).

Using your textbook, see pages 26-27 then answer Written Math Exercise 1.2 A(31-32), C(45-47).
At this point, you know already some essential things about arithmetic sequence. Now, you will learn how to find the
sum of the first term of an arithmetic sequence.
Watch the following videos to learn the concepts of series and arithmetic series. Then, answer the process questions.
1. Video Clip 4. (arithmetic Series).
Process Questions:
1. What is the difference between a sequence and a series?
2. When is a series definite and infinite?
(𝑎1 +𝑎𝑛 ) 𝑛[2(𝑎1 +(𝑛−1)𝑑]
3. When will you use the formula 𝑠𝑛 = 𝑛 and 𝑠𝑛 = in finding the nth partial sum of an

arithmetic series?
Post you answer to these questions in the Discussion Forum (Facebook group) and compare your answer to your classmates’.
Do not hesitate to ask them if their answers are different from yours.
From the ideas you have shared and gained from your classmates, complete each statement.
