Course Title: Children’s Literature

I. Course Description:

This course is purposely designed for student teachers whose delicate task is to bring books to children and to share with them their own love for literature. Its aim is to
widen the student’s acquaintance with children’s poems, stories and other forms and to develop fine tastes and sensitivity in changing appropriate books that provide children a
genuine enjoyment. Furthermore, this course also leads to extend knowledge and discussions on different techniques and activities that future teachers may pleasurable for
children. The course includes opportunities for student teachers to be more creative, component and resourceful.

II. Course Objectives


A. General Objectives
1. Familiarizes the students with content and scope of children’s literature.
2. Assets in the selection of appropriate materials for specific learning activities.
3. Develops effective presentations, techniques, such as, storytelling, dramatization and choral speaking/reading.

B. Specific Objectives:
1. Widens the student’s acquaintance with children’s poems, stories and other forms.
2. Demonstrate fine tastes and sensitivity in choosing poems, stories, and appropriate books that provide children, a genuine enjoyments.
3. Leads to extended knowledge and discussions on different techniques and activities that future teachers may adopt to make learning literature, pleasurable for the
children.
4. Develops student teachers to be more creative, competent and resourceful
5. Creates simple poems and stories for children with emphasis on the sense of humanism and Filipinism
