Title of production: The Scottish Bartender

Concept
Made of Lego, Sitcom style production set in London, in a pub/bar where many middle-aged
men come to drink after a hard day’s work, and a rude bartender with a strong Scottish accent
aggravates his customers and staff, causing many arguments and sometimes even some
violence, which gets worse when people become more intoxicated and the bartender gets
more tired. The bartender is bossy and seen as very loudmouthed to everyone, he is often
mocked for his voice, and being a ‘strong Scotsman’ and is full of pride for his country which
his opinions are very bias towards his country. He despises many of the English and their
way of life, and never keeps his thoughts to himself, so when he says something to the wrong
person violence breaks loose, where aggressive language and also some violence like
throwing bottles and various objects take place. The bar is wrecked by the end of it and
ambulances have to be called, but the Scotsman stands his ground and proves himself as
someone not to mess with.

Why are you producing this production?

I am producing this production because I feel I’m very good at making Lego stop motions,
after achieving a high grade in a previous unit for it. Adult animations like Simpsons and
family guy are very popular in my target audience and this has been proved to me in my
primary and secondary research. I feel confident in doing this as I’m sure my target audience
will enjoy it and I feel I can make a high-quality production with my idea. I also know what
to prioritize in my production thanks to my primary research, seeing foley sounds and set
design something my target want to see. I have been reassured by members of my target
audience and my teachers that they think my idea is strong and something that would work
well with my target audience if I do it to my best of abilities.

Deadline: My deadline for filming production 2 is the 18th December, and editing deadline is
the 15th January, however in this time I have a 2 week holiday for Christmas and also have to
make and edit my short film, so I need to show my time management skills and my planning
skills, and with the help of my production schedule be able to comfortably meet the
deadlines.

Target audience is 40-60-year olds, known as middle aged and I have never made a
production targeted at this age group before, so I know it will be challenging where I need to
put as much effort as possible to achieve a high grade.

What they want to see

They like to see violence, as they find it comedic when toys like Lego or objects start fighting
as it looks strange. From my research I also wanted to

Make it more relatable to my target audience so after doing research into them I felt the
pub was the best setting, as many adults in my target audience go to pubs/drink, and
having it more relatable means they are more likely to enjoy the production. From my
survey I can see that they want me to also focus on realistic Foley sound, as this could be
the difference between an average and high-quality production.

What you are creating based from that research

From my research I know that the Simpsons and family guy are great examples for
animations popular among my target audience, and this was backed up by my primary
research where these along with robot chicken are examples that they wanted my production
to be based off of. After my survey I saw that from my target audience the main things I
needed to prioritise was foley sound and location/set design and hence I’m going to put a lot
of effort into these like recording my own various foley sounds to use to make my animation
more authentic and also work hard on my set to, as this is a vital part of my production that
bring the quality down if not made to a certain standard. After researching and analysing
various productions for their codes and conventions I wanted to make all characters unique
and have different voices, as the productions that I watched that used the same voice for the
characters were not as interesting to watch, but as I am currently in a tier 3 lockdown this will
be difficult, so I will wait until the Christmas period to see if restrictions are lowered to be
able to record my characters different voices.

Where the production will be aired (why – based on target audience)

I will air my production on YouTube and Facebook, as these were the places from my
research that are most used my target audience which means I will be more likely to reach
people from my target audience as 7/10 have a Facebook account. YouTube is also the most
popular video website, with over 2 billion people using it.
