The general specifications of water tank.

Water Tank
Component Requirement Justification
Shape Cylindrical It is so that the outward force exerted
by water that is stored in the tank is
evenly spread out.
The shape also reduces the number
of edges of the tank. That way
bacteria build up is reduced(Rainbow
Tanks, 2014)
Height 70 m The height is adjusted to be based on
the volume of the water that can be
stored. The large value of height will
compensate for the smaller value of
diameter which also saves space.
Diameter 29 m A large diameter will allow for a
larger capacity without hugely
affecting the tank's centre of gravity.
This is also based on the formula of
the tank.
Volume 1.8x10 L8
V= π r 2 h
The capacity is half of the total
amount of water used for the process
as two water tanks are being used.
Thickness of tank 0.2m The thickness of the water tank is to
wall account for the pressure exerted by
the water on the tank.
Temperature 25˚C The water is stored at room
temperature to be ready for brewing
Pressure 1 atmosphere The water is stored at atmospheric
pressure to prevent pressure
imbalance between the tank and
surroundings.
Material Food-grade UV- Polyethylene is lightweight and
stabilised cheap. This material will also
polyethylene completely negate corrosion factors.
Also polyethylene is safe to be
exposed under the sun. Although
polyethylene is softer compared to
other types of material, it also resist
impact.(Clark Tanks, no date)
