SSC Stenographer is organized by the Staff Selection Commission for the
recruitment to the posts of Stenographer Grade C (Group B Non – Gazetted)
and Stenographer Grade D (Group C) in central government organizations.
The exam is conducted in two stages, which are Computer Based Test (CBT)
and Skill Test. On the basis of candidates’ performance in the CBT, they are
shortlisted for the skill test. Final selection is done on the basis of both the
stages. This exam is a test of speed and accuracy of a candidate as the
competition has reached another level. So to succeed in the goal of clearing
the exam, CBT is the first and critical hurdle. The topic, “Statement and
Conclusion” is asked in the General Intelligence and Reasoning
Section of the CBT.
This topic is quite deceptive because of its nature but at the same time, it is a
scoring topic. The questions from this topic are a bit confusing because the
questions are framed in such a manner that may seem deceitful to the
aspirants. Every time around 2 – 3 questions are asked from this topic in the
SSC Stenographer exam. This makes the topic essential for the exam.

1. Introduction
The topic is introduced in the reasoning section as it analyzes the
consciousness and viewpoint of a candidate. An aspirant needs to be
insightful to ace the questions asked from the topic, Statement and
Conclusion.
The general pattern of the questions asked from this topic is such that, a
statement (one or more than one) is given and it is followed by a few
conclusions. An aspirant is expected to perceive the right meaning of the
statement and choose the conclusion which is appropriate according to the
statement.

Sometimes only one of the conclusions can be logically correct and

sometimes both the given conclusions could be logically correct. It is also a
good possibility that both the given conclusions could not be logically correct.
Candidates are expected to select the option carefully and make sure that the
conclusion they are selecting supports the given statement.
