I am introducing and analyzing Lynzy Lab’s song “A Scary Time” (for Boys). This
song is a product of fighting sexism in the 2000’s. In Lynzy’s song, she describes
the fears and hardships women endure in our world today and the things they
can no longer enjoy or do normally out of fear they will be harmed. She then
says it is “a scary time for boys” in order to confront how uncomfortable men
make women feel in some instances as well as how entitled men can be when
speaking to women. Her song communicates the message that women live in
fear of abuse, harassment, and manipulation while men use guilt and act as a
victim so that they feel less responsible for the way women feel.
