PERILITE EXPOSURE
DEFINITION:It is the application of dry heat to the perineal area to provide comfort. It
increases blood circulation and hasten wound healing.
INDICATIONS:
1. Patients who have undergone rectal or perineal surgery
2. Post-partum patients with episiotomy wounds
3. Patients having vaginal inflammation or bladder spasm
4. Patients with painful or local irritation from hemorrhoids
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
1. Patients with cardiovascular condition
2. Presence of cyst or malignancy in the area
3. Patients with open wounds with hemorrhage
4. Patients with burns or fracture at the lower limbs
5. Heat lamps are contraindicated in pressure ulcer care
DEFINITION: It is a warm, shallow bath that cleanses the perineum, the space between the
rectum and the vulva or scrotum.
PURPOSES:
Promote healing
Decreases discomfort from infections of the bladder, prostate, or vagina
Provide comfort to the patient
