Course Title: Human Resource Management Topic: Job Analysis
Professor: Dr. Linda Simon Date: August 17, 2019

Job analysis is a process of identifying and determining in details the particular job duties and
requirements and the relative importance of these duties for a given job. It is an important aspect in an
organization and an integral part in Human resource management. By being able to analyze the
requirements of a certain job position, a company or an organization is able to identify the needs in terms
of human resources, and the trainings in terms of employee development.
During our discussion, we were enlightened of the importance of job analysis in an organization. It can be
used in determining the training needs of employees for better productivity and quality of performance.
Through job analysis, HRD can identify what training is necessary for a certain employee to meet the
goals and objectives of the organization. likewise, job analysis can be used for performance review and
selection procedures. With the analysis included, it is easier for the employer to identify what job and
who is suited for the job. Also, through the use of job analysis, employee’s performance is easier to
evaluate given that it meets what is stated in the job analysis.
Furthermore, we were able to discuss when is job analysis used. It is commonly used in personnel
selection, for recruitment, for performance appraisal, and for job evaluation. It can be seen that there is
much accomplished task through the use of job analysis. I can say that though it is a rigorous job and
takes a lot of time and energy to prepare, it is of great importance and significance in an organization,
therefore it must be accomplished.
Along with discussion job analysis, the reporters also gave us an overview of the trends of jobs in the 21 st
century. As I observe, most of the hot jobs included were Information Technology related. Most of which
the present generation are very literate and well versed. However, white collar jobs are still one of the
leading jobs in the market today, which means that though IT related jobs are ‘hot’ jobs today, there could
still be a lot of opportunities for other jobs that are not related to IT.
To sum it up, job analysis plays a big role in an organization. An organization will be most productive if a
job is done right. A job will be done right if the position is filled right. Filling the right position can only
be done is job analysis is done right.
