WILLOW TO UNVEIL AR-INTERACTIVE MURAL


AS PART OF DV AWARENESS MONTH CAMPAIGN
To introduce new microsite, hotline for champions and virtual Walk a Mile Fundraising Event

WHAT: In honor of October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Willow


Domestic Violence Center will unveil an augmented reality-interactive mural on
an exterior wall of the Times Square building. Using Facebook’s AR studio, the AR
aspect will reveal survivor stories and XXX.
Additionally, Willow Center will announce details for Walk With Willow: A Virtual
MOVEment, a new digital spin on the organization’s annual fundraising and
awareness walk t. The goal is for the community to collectively walk 7,000 miles
to represent the 7,000 calls to Willow’s Hotline and $50,000 for the 50,000
domestic dispute calls made to Monroe County 9-1-1 on average each year.

PHOTO OP: Artist Sarah C. Rutherford will be finalizing the mural with Willow Center’s President
& CEO Meaghan de Chateauveux, Digital Hyve Director of Community Development
Norma Holland and Truth Collective Founder & Chief Strategy Officer John Roberts
onsite to showcase the mural’s AR capabilities, announce public DV Awareness
Month activities and new prevention education microsite, and share new ways for
those seeking to support survivors and the organization’s mission to engage.

WHO: Marketing Task Force Volunteer Partner Organizations for October Domestic
Violence Awareness Month include: Digital Hyve, Truth Collective and Tipping
Point Communications.
Supporting PSA sponsors include Spectrum News, WROC-TV Channel 8, and
WHEC-TV Channel 10.
