Exercises Problem No. 1 Flat Belts
Problem:
A 75 HP, 750 rpm motor (clockwise) with 610 mm pulley is connected by a flat belt to a
2000 mm flywheel on a machine. The distance between their center is 3 m. The
coefficient of friction on the driver pulley is 0.32 and 0.22 on the driven pulley. Find:
(a) the width of a10 mm thick, machine wire laced leather belt to be used;
(b) the resultant load carried by the driven shaft.
