Spur Gear Tooth Stresses

Name: Gamboa, Ariel C.

Student No.: 20151157958

Problem:
A gear set is to consist of a 19- tooth steel spur pinion driving a 30- tooth cast iron gear.
The teeth are cut on the 20 0 full depth system. Determine suitable values for the module
and face width corresponding to a power input of 3.5 kW at pinion speed of 1200 rpm
and maximum contact stress of 600 MPa.
Given:
N p=19−teeth(steel)

N g=30−teeth(cast−iron)

P ¿ 3.5 kW
n p =1200 rpm

σ =600 MPa
∅=20°

Solution:
