Instructional Procedure:
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Drill
Have a drill on:
Conduct a game on basic multiplication facts

You can use the following exercises

Answer the following orally.
1) How many 5s are there in 55?
2) How many 10s are there in 100?
3) How many 9s are there in 54?
4) How many 12s are there in 36?
5) How many 15s are there in 60?

2. Review
Conduct a review on multiplication of fraction using flash cards.
2 3 4 6 1 5 2 3 3 4
1. × =¿ 2. × =¿ 3. × =¿ 4. × =¿ 5. × =¿
3 4 5 7 3 6 9 4 8 5

3. Motivation
Present a picture of a girl sharing a slice of bread to her playmate. Ask the
pupils to tell something about the picture. Elicit the value of sharing.
B. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation
Present each problem to the class.

Grace has 4 meters of cloth. She wants to make hand towels for her EPP project.

1
How many hand towels can she make if each hand towel measures meter?
2
Analyze the problem. Ask “What are the given facts?”
What is asked? What is the operation to be used?

Solve the problem using 4 whole strips of the same length.

How many halves are there in 1 whole strip? (2)

How many halves are there in 2 whole strips? (4)
How many halves are there in 3 whole strips? (6)
How many halves are there in 4 whole strips? (8)
How many hand towels can Grace make? (8)

Problem C.
How many 2/3s are there in 2 2/3 ?

The teacher will guide the pupils to visualize the division of fraction using a number line.

3. Processing the Activities

 Let the groups present their outputs.
 How did you find the activity? Were you able to visualize division of fraction? In how
many ways were you able to show the answer?

3. Reinforcing the Concept and Skill

Discuss the presentation. On page ___ of LM Math Grade V,
Have the pupils solve the following problems.

Use a fraction chart to show:

1 6 1
a) 3  d) 9 3
3
8 1
1 e) 12 3
b) 5  2

Ask the pupils to solve the problems under Get Moving on page ____ LM Math Grade
V. Check their Answer. For mastery, have them solve the problems under Keep Moving
on Page _______ of LM Math Grade V. Check the pupil’s answer.

5. Summarizing the Lesson

Lead the pupils to generalize that:
 To visualize division of fraction we use the illustration, fraction chart and number line

6. Applying to New and Other Situations

Have the pupils do the exercises under Apply your Skills on page ___LM Math Grade
V. Encourage some pupils to show and discuss the answers.

a. Assessment
Solve the problem using illustration:
1) Jayra bought 3 pineapples. She cut each into ½ pieces. How many halves did she
have?
2) Rico has to pack 4 kg. of rice in bags that can contain 4/5 kg per bag. How many
bags will he need to pack the rice?

b. Home Activity
Remediation

Answer the following orally.

1. 8 ÷ ½ 2. 9 ÷ 1/3 3. 4 ÷ 1/6 4. 12 ÷ 2/3 5. ¼ ÷ 1/8

Enrichment
Illustrate the following division problems. Write the answer in your notebook.
3
1.) 6 4 = N
2
2.) 12  3 = N
3.) 1/3 ÷ 1/6
