RBI Grade-B Examination


The Reserve Bank of India conducts an annual RBI Grade-B examination 2020 to
recruit Grade B officers (Manager level posts in commercial Banks). It is the most
esteemed, highest, and toughest level of examination in the banking and financial sector
in India.

The RBI Grade-B Examination is conducted to recruit candidates for the three Posts
which are

1. General – DR
2. DERP
3. DSIM in common Seniority Group (CSG)

The RBI Grade-B exam is conducted in Three Phases

1. Prelims-Qualifying Phase I
2. Mains Phase II

Eligibility
The Eligibility criteria are as follows:-

Nationality: The candidate must be a citizen of India, subject of Nepal or Bhutan,


Or a Tibetan refugee permanently settled in India.
Age limits: Candidate must have attained a minimum age of 21 years and must
not be more than 30 years in age. However, there are certain age relaxations for
candidates belonging to certain categories.
Educational qualification: The educational qualification differs for General,
DERP, and DSIM specializations.
General RBI Grade(B): A minimum of 60% marks in bachelor’s degree as well as
in 12th and 10th standard examinations.
DERP RBI Grade(B): A master’s degree in economics or finance with a minimum
of 55% marks from a recognized Indian or Foreign University.
DSIM RBI Grade(B): A master’s degree in statistics or mathematics with a
minimum of 55% marks.

General Awareness/General Knowledge:- This section is not limited to any
specific number of topics as it is vast but the questions asked in the examination
are generally from Appointments/committees/constituencies, Sports, Financial
awareness, and also Awards/film festivals, Meetings/Submits,
Schemes/Campaigns/Portals, International News/India’s initiative with other
countries, Reports/Indices, Obituary, Banking terminology, Headquarters of
Banks, Economic and financial news, Monetary policy, Census Data, Socio-
Economic Caste census, Union Budget, Economic Survey.
Logical Reasoning:- Puzzles, Inequalities, Blood Relations, Input-output,
Machine input, ranking, Seating arrangements, Direction Test, and also Syllogism,
Data Sufficiency, Coding or Decoding, Alphanumeric series.
Quantitative aptitude:- Ratio Proportion, Percentage, Speed Time and
Distance, Permutation and combination, Data Interpretation, Number series,
Profit and loss, Mensuration and in conclusion Average, Time and Work, Mixture
and Alligations, Probability, Simplification, Inequalities, Upstream and
Downstream, SI and CI.
English:- Reading Comprehension, Fill in the blanks, Jumbled words, and
sentences, Sentence framing, Vocabulary, Tenses Rules, Cloze test,or Sentence
rearrangement, Error spotting, and in addition match the columns, Grammar,
Idioms, and phrases.

(a) Microeconomics
Consumers behaviour and firms, the value of resources like land, labour and
capital.
Markets-monopoly, perfect and imperfect competition.
In addition, General Equilibrium of price and activity, economic welfare and also
case for regulatory / policy interventions.

(b) Macroeconomics
Measuring national income and its components; basic macro identities and the
idea of macro-balance, Goods and Financial Market Equilibrium (ISLM

(e) India’s Economy and Development Issues

structural issues-savings and investment, demography, urbanization, productivity,
etc., issues with poverty, inequality and also with employment.
Agriculture policy and also its developments, manufacturing competitiveness;
what is holding India back, the role of public sector enterprises in the key
economic sectors, India’s resilient service sector; trade, tourism, communication,
ITES, etc.
Financial sector regulation and also reforms-banking, insurance and capital
market, fiscal policy and the changing priorities of the government, emergence of
monetary policy and its new role.
