Discharge Plan

M- edication
Cefuroxime 200 mg q 8 hours IVTT
Paracetamol 150 /mL PO 0.8 ml q 4 hours for fever
Rodazid 125mg/5 3 mL q 6 hours
Metoclopremide 1.5 IVTT single dose
Erceflora 1 tab BID
E- xercise/ Activity
 Instruct mother to assist in back tapping if the baby experiences aspiration or
coughing
T-reatment
 Instruct mother not to give your child cough or cold medicines unless your doctor
says it is ok.
 Instruct the mother to report things needed to noted or the side effects that
should be reported immediately.
 Instruct mother have the child finish all the antibiotics, even if your child starts to
feel better.
H-ealth Teachings
 Instruct mother that the child will need a lot of rest
 Instruct mother that it is important to give the child fluids frequently to prevent
dehydration
 Instruct mother not to allow anyone to smoke in the home or around the child.
 Instruct mother if the breathing becomes more difficult, or they develop a grunt
when they breathe go to a physician.
 Encourage mother to complete the full course of antibiotics if they have been
prescribed and instruct mother that Cough medicines do not help children with
pneumonia
 Instruct mother that it may be more comfortable for the baby to sleep propped up
on a couple of pillows, rather than laying completely flat.
 Instruct mother that if the child has trouble breathing through his or her nose, use
a bulb syringe to remove mucus. Use a bulb syringe before you feed your child
and put him or her to bed. 
O-utpatient
 Refer patient to mother or support groups that could assist her physically,
emotionally and psychologically.
D-iet
 Drinking plenty of fluids is highly recommended
 Bottle feed or breastfeed your child smaller amounts more often

M- edication

 Instruct the mother to assist the patient when seizure occurs.
T-reatment
 Instruct the mother to let her child take the medicine exactly as directed.
 Instructed the mother when is the next follow-up check-up for her child.
H-ealth Teaching
 Advised the mother that if the patient is having her seizure, do not put anything in
her mouth because this may prevent her breathing.
 Advised the mother to put her child to sleep after the seizure.
 Advised the mother to loosen the clothing around her child’s neck and head.
 Advised the mother to avoid panicking every time her child has a seizure
 Advised the mother that every time her child is having a seizure she should place
her in a side lying position to prevent her from swallowing her saliva or vomit.
 Advised the mother to always record the duration of the seizure
O-utpatient
 Refer patient to mother or support groups that could assist her physically,
emotionally and psychologically.
D-iet
 Breastfeeding is possible with 3:1 ketogenic diet formulas
 Ensure adequate vitamin and mineral supplementation when formula is weaned
to solid
