Morikami’s largest annual event, Hatsume Fair, transforms the Morikami Park into a Japanese
spring festival. Continuous entertainment features two stages with taiko drumming, martial arts
demos, and costume and fashion show contests. Hatsume brings avenues of artisan booths, plant
sales, Japanese street fair food vendors, and children’s activities.
“Hatsume Fair is the museum’s most popular event. Every year, we look forward to creating a
one of a kind experience for our guests to enjoy,” said museum president Celia Turner Zahringer.

Morikami has been a hub for Japanese arts and culture in South Florida since its opening in
1977. With rotating exhibitions, tea ceremonies performed monthly in the Seishin-an tea house,
educational outreach programs with local schools and organizations, and Japanese traditional
festivals celebrated for the public several times a year, Morikami aims to communicate
awareness for the animate Japanese culture.
