Adventure into Space
What is Adventure into Space?

5 week long experience for students to learn and create an interactive event for the locals that will
include a

● Space themed Science fair led by tech instructor

● Chorus/band performance inspired by space- science fiction
● An interactive art exhibit with art and decorations created by students and local artists
● A real life astronaut trainer leading P.E with our coaches and a once in a lifetime assembly about her
work
● Movie night for parents and students
How will it work?

● Each group will spend 4 days with an instructor. This will rotate for four weeks until every class has
spent 4 days in Tech, P.E, Art, and Music.
● During the final week, students in grades 4,5,and 6 will be given the chance to sign up for different
opportunities to assist teachers in setting up for the finale. Younger students grade k-3rd will do
activities with their teachers to decorate their hallways and classrooms.
● During the fifth week on the 26th and 27th, students will be allowed to walk through each exhibit.
● On the 27th, parents can come and our Astronaut trainer will give her presentation, as well as hand
out awards for best art in show, science fair awards, and future astronauts awards (from the astronaut
P.E activities)
● On the night of the 27th, the track field will host a showing of E.T
How will it look?
Art Gallery
1. There will be art projects inspired by George Lucas
2. Some students will do space themed sculptures
3. Grades k-3rd will make a ‘galaxy wall’ where they cut out stars, planets,
asteroids, and use the splatter paint techniques they learned to create a
galaxy!!!!
4. Art club will make unique posters for the school
Music

1. Students will learn about sound in space

2. Students will learn how to perform songs listed below
3. Mandatory auditions will be held during class for a chorus performance of the songs below
4. The band classes will learn unique songs to play after chorus performance

Tech

● Each class will be broken into four teams

● Class will learn about space and team up to make a project about any known planet
● Teacher will show students how to create a rotating mobile for planets
● Each team will showcase their work in the gym on the 26th and 27th for the science fair
P.E

● Students will spend four days training for “Mini astronaut” competition
● Competition will include
1. Running ½ a mile
2. Defying Gravity (Yoga/Gymnastics)
3. Plant the flag(put students on scooters and time how long it takes them to scoot to one end of the
gym and put a flag in its spot)
● On fourth day, competition will take place and winners will be written down
