Experiment - 2 True, Colloid and Suspension
Requirements: Ten glass test tubes, a test tube rack, a china dish, a tripod
stand, a glass rod, three funnels, filter papers, a small torch or flashlight.
Chemicals Required : dry common salt , sugar crystals, alum, chalk powder ,
garden soil, egg albumin , fine sand and distilled water.
Procedure :
A . To prepare true solutions of dry common salt, sugar and alum.
Take a pinch of dry common salt, sugar and alum powder in different test tubes.
Pour about 10 cc of distilled water in each test tubes. One by one shake the
contents of the test tubes vigorously by placing your thumb on the mouth of the
test tube. The common salt , sugar and alum powder dissolve completely to
form a true solution.
Take a pinch of soil, chalk powder and fine sand in different test tubes. Pour
about 10 cc of distilled water in each test tubes. One by one shake the contents
of the test tubes vigorously by placing your thumb on the mouth of the test tube.
The soil, chalk powder and fine sand do not dissolve in water, but get suspended
in water, so as to form a suspension.

Precautions :
1. Glass rod must be cleaned properly before use.
2. Do not waste the chemicals and distilled water. Use it wisely.
