Biology I Essay

Will it be possible for the early scientists to postulate the cell theory without a
microscope? Explain your answer.
No. Despite the existence of microscope alternatives, the writer believes that
early scientists cannot develop the cell theory without a microscope. Although it was
said that we can see cells with just our eyes, no one would know that those proteins
passing through our retina have cells. Even if syringes and lasers were to be invented
earlier, there is a very low possibility that what people would see through the water
droplet would also be perceived as living organisms consisting of cells. Though
someone could think of a similar concept, since they just experimented with a droplet of
water, there is no way of bringing up and verifying an idea that all living things consists
of cells. They may study other beings and materials, but some cells would not be visible
enough to confirm their assumptions to be generally true. The innovation of lenses
would most probably lead to inventing microscopes first than devising laser pointers and
phones. Microscope is indeed a necessary device that brought forth the cell theory we
have today. Without the microscope, scientists would not be able to closely examine
and differentiate the structure of the biotic ones from the abiotic to prove their
hypotheses and pass those to be accepted as postulates under the cell theory.
