The webinar covers a very brief history of the modern FEM and provides general steps involved in
solving an engineering problem using FEM. These steps are software independent and can be
incorporated into existing finite element modelling procedures if not already considered. A brief
finite element example using a bar element is included to allow participants to discern the steps
involved in developing the overall system equations when using FEM. The finite element solution
for varying numbers of elements is compared with the analytical solution as a means of validation.
