MODULE 3B: LEARNING RESOURCES

Republic of the Philippines
Department of Education
Region
Schools Division of

Lesson 1
ACTIVITY 1:

1. Based on the map, what resources should you have in order to

implement the LDM adopted by your School/Division?
2. Do you have the complete resources for the Distance LDM needed
in class? If the LRs are not complete or not available, what steps will you take
to make these available? What are your options to substitute these missing
LRs?
3. What support will you need to maximize the use of the two DepEd-
sanctioned LR Portals? From whom can you get this support?
4. Based on your evaluation of the materials, are they appropriate to
the level and characteristics of learners? Are there learners who might be
disadvantaged by the materials (based on reading ability, level of learning
independence, level of household support, distance)? What adjustments will
you make in terms of the LRs?

ANSWERS:
1. Based on the LR map our school will be using the Modular DL which is the
combination of digital modular distance learning and printed modular distance
learning.
2. As of now, we are not 100% ready in terms of learning materials needed for
LDM’s we have chosen but we are all trained to be flexible whatever the
situation is. We prepared some alternatives if ever there is delayed in the
arrival of the LRs coming from the Central Office. There are many available
LRs that we can use as long as it is inclined with the Most Essential Learning
Competencies. We can use Self Learning Materials, Learning Activity Sheets
and the like to supplement the missing LRs.
3. LRMDS is designed to support increased distribution and access to learning,
teaching and professional development resources. The LR Portal provides
access to quality resources including information about the resources.
These supports are given by the Regions, Divisions, and Clusters/School
Level.
4. Yes, as a teacher we should choose appropriate LRs to the level and
characteristics of our learners. We should consider the diversity of the
learners in choosing the LRs that we are going to use for our instruction.

ACTIVITY 2:

In your LAC Session, share and discuss your answers from the previous activity.

What support can you provide to your colleagues and what support can you
get from them in terms of LRs?

Take note of the insights that you can gather from your colleagues and write them in
your Study Notebook.

ANSWERS:
I will share to them my work and how I did it. I will exchange ideas with them so that
I can further develop my learning resources.

Lesson 2
ACTIVITY 1:

Establish access to the following portals:

1. LRMDS Portal. Ensure that you have an LRMDS Portal Account. If you have
not registered yet, follow the LR Portal User Guide to guide you in your
registration process. Alternatively, seek assistance from any of your
colleagues or your IT personnel in your school, district, or division. You may
also coordinate with your LAC Leader and/or Coach. To understand the
portal better, you may watch the LR Portal Video Tutorial located in the
resources of this Course.

2. DepEd Commons. Ensure that you have access to DepEd Commons. Refer
to Memorandum on DepEd Commons dated March 17, 2020.

Explore the Portals

In your Study Notebook, answer the following questions:
1. Given the LDM adopted in your School, how can the two DepEd portals
respond to your LR needs and those of your learners’? How do they complement the
LRs that you already have?
2. What are the challenges in accessing the LRs in the portals both for you
and your learners? How will you overcome these challenges?
3. What support will you need to be able to maximize the use of the LR
Portals? From whom can you get this support?

ANSWERS:
A screenshot of my access of LRMDS Portal and DepEd Commons

1. The DepEd LR Portal like the LRMDS and the DepEd Commons contains
quality assured materials that can be printed for use in home-based activities
which is very useful nowadays for teachers and the learners. There are many
learning resources available for different types of learners. As a teacher we
can retain, reuse, revise, remix and redistribute the content by blending it with
the LRs that we already have.
2. We are facing many challenges in accessing these LR Portals both teachers
and learners. Such challenges are: unstable internet connection, data
charges, lack of available gadgets especially for the learners and insufficient
knowledge in technology.
The Government gave order to the telecommunication companies who
provides internet connectivity to fix their service. While the DepEd secured the
support of the DICT and NTC in the initiative of backing delivery of public
education services through connectivity. The public may access the site
(DepEd Commons) for free but not covered the links outside it. Nevertheless,
it is a big help especially fir the public. Some LGU’s gives support both

teachers and students by giving then tablets and laptops that is necessary for
online learning where in education takes place at home.
3. LR Portal is designed to provide teachers with access to quality learning,
teaching and professional development resources. It has a wide range of
learning resources and ideas on learning and teaching and it provides
feedback, information, standards, specifications and guidelines for assessing
and evaluating development and production of resources. We get this support
from the Regions, Divisions, Cluster/School level.

ACTIVITY 2:

In your next LAC Session, share and discuss your answers to the questions in
Activity 1. Explore how you can help and support each other in using the LR portals.
Jot down the insights and helpful information regarding the use of the LR portals in
your Study Notebook.

ANSWERS:
The Department of Education launches its LR Portals to further help teachers
and learners in continuing education in this time of crisis. LR Portal is designed to
support increased distribution and across to learning, teaching and professional
development resources. DepEd Commons and LRMDS are online platform for
public school teachers to support distance learning modalities.

I can share my finished or downloaded learning resources to my colleagues.

Exchanging thought and ideas with them in using LR portals will help us to further
develop our learning resources.

from the online portals they will be almost the same because I followed my
learning resources in Most Essential Learning Competencies and the templates
released for the LR production of the department.
2. As a beginning teacher, I still have a lot to learn especially in making learning
resources like in instructions and activities.
