Allison Belasco

Allison Belasco is a contemporary artist exploring the dark side of adolescence through sound.
As a sound artist, Belasco synthesizes both recorded and appropriated material through echoes,
delays, and reverbs to invoke the listener’s emotions and memories of a time of “loss of
innocence”. Each composition is unique, with layered and rhythmic monotone sounds altering
one’s sense of place, and often concludes with a melancholy tone or echo of an existence lost.

She records her voice and distorts it to make a blended Alpha/Beta wave. Eliciting physiological
responses of the viewer. It creates an presence that is considered unnerving to those who are
blissfully unaware, or a home for those who seek comfort and embrace the elegy of innocence.

As a recent Graduate form UTSA’s Bachelor of Fine Arts program, Belasco intends on pursuing
work as a video and sound editor or composer for commercial, gaming or the film industry. After
some experience in the commercial world, she would like to also earn her M.F.A. and possibly
teach art at the college or university level.
