CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the discussion of research design, locale of the

study, description of the subjects, the research instrument used for data gathering,

validation of research instrument, data processing procedure and statistical tools

used for data analysis.

Research Design

The researcher used the qualitative- descriptive method in this study.

According to Namol (2019), descriptive research is used to describe characteristics

of a population or phenomenon being studied. It does not answer questions about

how/when/why the characteristics occurred. Rather it addresses “the what”

question.

Locale of the Study

The study was conducted in Senior High School Building of Pangpang

National High School at Grade 12 Luxury room with 20 total numbers of students.

The Respondents

The respondents of this study were 20 Grade 12 HUMSS students of

Pangpang National High School. Out of 20, 19 or 95% are female while 1 or 5% is

male.

Table 1. Table presents the distribution of respondents according to sex.

Variable Subject Grouping Frequency (F) Percentage (P)

Female 19 95%
Male 1 5%
Sex Total 20 100%
Sample question:
Use Slovin’s formula to find out what sample of a population of
1,000 people you need to take for survey on their soda
preferences.

Step 1: Figure out what you want your confidence level to be.

For example, you might want a confidence level of 95 percent (giving you
an alpha level of 0.05), or you might need better accuracy at the 98
percent confidence level (alpha level of 0.02).

Step 2. Plug your data into the formula. In this example, we’ll use a 95
percent confidence level with a population size of 1,000.
n = N / (1 + N e2) =
1,000 / (1 + 1000 * 0.05 2) = 285.714286

Step 3: Round your answer to a whole number (because you can’t

sample a fraction of a person or thing!)
285.714286 = 286
Research Instrument

The research instrument was based on questionnaires.

*Discuss here your interpretation of your instrument*

Data Analysis

The following steps are to be followed in conducting the research study.

1. Identify the problem

2. Review the literature

3. Clarify the problem

4. Clearly define terms and concept

Make a researcher-made questionnaire

Ask permission from the principal/ teachers

Secure the place

Conduct the study

Present, analyze and internet the gathered data
