Many Filipinos use social media, the internet, and
information and communication technology (ICT)

Productivity entertainment dissemination
The skills required to use these
technologies for different
applications are acquired
through EXPERIENCE and
OBSERVATION of peers, who
may also lack formal education
in ICT, without formal education
in ICT and related
technologies, various problem
may arise.
LESSON 1: INTRODUCTION TO ICT
LESSON OBJECTIVEs
At the end of this lesson, the students are expected to:
1.Improve their knowledge how technology affect their
everyday lives and the state of the nation;
2.Understand the features of Web 2.0 & Web 3.0.
3.Compare and contrast the difference between online
platforms, sites, and content;
4.Learn the different trends in ICT and use them to their
advantage.
ICT – Information and Communication Technology
• It deals with the use of different
communication technologies such as
mobile phones, telephone, Internet to
locate, save, send and edit information
• Is a study of computers as data
processing tools, it introduces students
to the fundamentals of using computer
systems in an internet environment.
Computer
is an electronic device
for storing and
processing data,
typically in binary
form, according to
instructions given to it
in a variable program.
Internet
is the global system of
interconnected computer
networks that use the internet
protocol suite (TCIP/IP) to link
billions of devices worldwide.
Means of connecting a
computer to any other
computer anywhere in the
world via dedicated routers
and servers.
Sometimes called simply ‘’the Net’’, is a
worldwide system of computer
networks/network of networks in which
the users at any one computer can get
information from any other computer.

internet that allows documents to

enabling the user to search for
information by moving from one
