Hilton is a world class hotel operating out of 113 countries and territories as of
2018 had a portfolio of 16 world class brands consisting of 5,000 properties. The
hotel enjoyed a reputation of being one of the best places to work in innumerable
surveys done by external bodies like the Great Places to Work.

HR Practice at Hilton
Hilton Company shows us the best HR practices we can learn from with over
16,000+ full-time employees working in a diverse areas, Hilton has even been
recognized by Ramstad as one of the best seen employers in 2019, Hilton
employees a truly diverse workforce across a variety of positions from valet to
cleaning personnel, restaurant servers, concierge providers, and managers. Each
team member comes with a different skill set that might or might not have a
strong educational component to it. In spite of this, the entire workforce was a
reflection of the hotel’s hospitality culture. It does not matter whether the guest
is staying at Hilton in San Francisco or India; there is a consistency in the manner
in which the staff interacts with the guest.

Hilton is able to differentiate itself from other global hotels because of its unique
employee centric HR practices like their recruitment, on boarding, and training
processes. The leadership at Hilton believed in attracting, hiring, and retaining
employees. This has made business sense because these employees would service
their guests better. Over the years, the company has created a culture of high
engagement and the highly empowered employees went out of their way to
delight their customers.

Hilton recognizes its team members who did great work and treated them well
with a view to getting them to stay longer at the company, grow within the
company, and take on leadership roles. Over the years, Hilton has continued to
grow and develop its HR Practices. The management has kept its focus on the
human aspect in order to become profitable. The team believed that the hotel
was successful because it gave each of its team members a special work culture
about caring for each other. The management believes that its continued focus on
HR policies and practices had acted as a competitive advantage for them, the HR
department at Hilton is responsible for carrying out effective HRM which ensures
proper delegation of work and authority further allowing their employees to look
up to their leaders/ managers and getting inspired from their values and skills.
The HR Manager acts as an adviser who guides and directs the employees at
critical times which is the unique quality of Hilton Employees.
