My professional development plans

Possible Coursework - Plan or Proposal: Template:

Student Name: Jawaher Hussain Ahmed Ali Alwahedi ID #: H00349627

Introduce the PDP setting: As a teacher, I have many goals to accomplish in my

teaching life. A professional development plan is documented record of an
individual’s work goals and progressions (Guzder, 2019). Moreover, of course,
every teacher has strategies to follow in teaching. Still, for me, I prefer to do my
work perfectly, so I like to follow the PDP to focus on my skills and what I need to
improve by following some action and procedure to improve myself and being
confident of keeping forward. Moreover, the teaching practice gives me a chance to
provide the best teaching and every TP I earn excellent feedback and feel proud.
PDP is an essential part of determining the goals and releasing from the negative
feeling that you have and transfer it to positive emotion (Cox, 2019).

Justify your professional development goals for this semester: Every semester I
have teaching practicum, which means I have an opportunity to teach in the variety
of schools, so after having six semesters, I notice the strength and weakness area in
my teaching life. However, I create this PDP to write five goals that I hope to
achieve it based on my MST and MCT recommendations. Firstly, develop classroom
management skills, by using different strategies in the classroom. Secondly, create
differentiation activity by using more of the visual items. Thirdly, apply effective
learning style to help control the misbehave students in a class. Fourth, using
attractive strategies to involve the whole class to participate in the activity. Lastly,
using different ways to keep the students speak in the second language (Englis).
However, there are many actions that I will follow with support and evidence.
Moreover, the aim of this PDP is to improve myself and grow in the teaching world
to keep forward.

Reflection
Introduction:

A Professional Development Plan(PDP) is organization documents that contain the

main ideas such as the strategies, skills, goals and resources that we need to
develop from our self to be real professional. Also, it helps me a lot to know my
weakness and how I could improve from my skills in the right way. Reflective
teaching is a helpful way to reflect on the main part that we have and the
importance of it because it guides me to the right place should I have to be and
professional growth (SERRA , 2015). In this reflection, I will write about my PDP 2
and provide evidence of the data that I collected. Also , provide my weakness and
strengthens in this following area which is Professionalism, Planning for learning,
Implementing learning, Managing learning and Assessment.

I have Micro Teaching this semester. It was the first time to teach online, but I discover new
things. The importance of it is to achieve a good teaching lesson and make the students
learn. The purpose is teaching plus apply the goals that I worked on it and provide
evidence. It was a great chance to teach and apply my goals. Also, I will reflect how I
achieved my strength points, the ways that I will follow to keep forward also what the
weakness that I faced in this TP which is related to the areas that I mentioned above and
how I will plan to address. Moreover, the role of collaboration for achieving those goals that
I prepared for it in the PDP1.
However, I set the goals that I want to achieve, and I did, which is managing Learning,
implementing Learning, planning for Learning, commitment to the profession, reflection on
practice. Each goal contains actions that I planned to apply in my TP with evidence. Writing
the goals is an excellent idea to improve from our self (Lindberg, 2020). In addition, I will
summarize my goals and actions. My first goal is managing learning. I was working very
well by applying the actions that I prepared, such as, use classroom rules, start with a way
that earns their attention like claps. The second goal is implementing Learning. I apply
differentiation activity on the padlet program to work based on their level. Apply different
tasks like online games, Kahoot and quizzes. The third is planning for Learning. I start by
welcome video, take attendance, review the rules, used reinforcement strategies. Fourth is a
commitment to the profession. I depend on using think, pair and share strategies, so I give
my students the link of padlet they have to read, think, discuss with their pairs then share
their work. Make class fun by using online games. Lastly, is a reflection on practice, by
using various methods to make the students speak in Englis. Such as showing English video
and ask too many questions.

v. 2014-05-15 12
My Strength and Weaknesses:

I applied my teaching in the Micro-Learning, and with the time, I recognize the
strength and weaknesses that I faced while teaching this semester. However, that
gives me a chance to improve from my self. Firstly, my strong points
in professionalism are to make a relationship with the students because the
students are the main part. Also, doing my work on time. I will never be late in
something but what I did is plan before one week to be ready for anything, even my
lesson plan, I prefer to make it in details and send it to my MCT and MST, so that
helps me to be professional in my work as they mention. Additionally, I create an
attract lesson with differentiation activities for the students and search for the
online games they prefer to play. For example, I see that my students love Kahoot,
so I provide them with a link to play it related to my lesson. Also, design games is a
way for students to succeed in their challenge(Muller, 2014).

My weak point in this area is the work for creating great activities is take half of the time of
my day to spend on it. Second, my strength points in planning for learning is every day take
notes of the plans that I will do to teach my lesson. For instance, in my English lesson, I
planned everything like activities, games, timer, points and Assessment. Also, I designed
based on the students level what their style of learning because I see they have a different
learning style, so I apply different learning in my lesson, and that helps me a lot.
The weak point is searching for activities that should appropriate for them, and it will
attract them to do it because the online learning, not all the students like to participate. My
third strength points in implementing learning are organization and providing various
learning such as that I used in my classes is Padlet, Kahoot, Quizzes, Nearpod and points
program. Also, I keep implementing different learning strategies and activities to the
students not to feel bored. My weak point is controlling the time because students take too
much time to implement their work. My fourth strength points in Managing learning is the
ability to create different apps that manage the student's behaviour, so I recognize that
students attract while seeing the positive and negative points such as ClassDojo and Teacher
Lite program because that makes a competition between them. So, behavioural modification
required for the process of learning(Garvin, 1993). Also, produced creativity rules that
make students follow, such as open the camera and mute yourself that is better because they
set alone so will focus on the teacher content. My weak point is that at the beginning was
hard for me to manage students because it online learning then I search and create apps
helps me to manage to learn quickly. My Fifth strength points in Assessment is the ability to
follow each child with his assessment. For example, I did a Padlet program has different
assessment so that each student will do his assessment based on his names. That considers

v. 2014-05-15 13
an amazing way because I can follow each one of them quickly and see their improvement
or I can move to the next lesson—also, the ability to achieve multiple assessments at the
same time. For example, two formative assessment one it will be at the middle of class and
the other at the end or will be as H.W. My weakness point takes too much time to create
multiple assessments of students.

Achieving my Strength:

I achieved all of those strength by keep looking forward and trust my self that I can do what
I believe in achieving. Also, keep planning at the end of my day what I will do tomorrow
this is a good strategy that helps me to achieve my goals, and each strength leads me to
accomplish the other strength. For example, professionalism was the central part because it
introduces many things, such as being on time, make a relationship with the students and
working hard is lead me to be a professional in my work. Then, planning for learning, I
prepare each lesson I will teach plus written a note of the things that I need to consider in
my lesson. Also, searching for the best way or program to attract the students to learn
because online learning is a new experience for them so I success in apply creativity
program like Kahoot, splash learn, Padlt, Nearpod and TeacherKit. Next, Implement
learning I implement different learning strategies that appropriate to their level and create
differentiation activity. It is possible for them, and I see how they were excited to do it. Next,
managing learning, I achieved my strength by applying positive, negative and punishment
performance and give verbal feedback. I notice that I can take control of them quickly. I
achieved my strength in the assessment part very well because I was able to create multiple
assessments such as formative assessment in one lesson and observe their improvement in
the learning that lead me to success and build strength by myself.

However, the key points that I should remember always to keep achieving my strength are
trusting and depend on myself that I can earn what I want. Still, I need to work very hard
because nothing is become simple in this life and plan as much as possible even every day.
After all, the plan can remember me what should I do. According to Belanger (2017), "make
time to consistently evaluate yourself to make sure that you're on track". That's mean
evaluates my self is a great idea and that what I follow because it helps me to keep forward.

v. 2014-05-15 14
Plan to Address Weaknesses:

In my opinion, I will follow my plan to address my weakness that stated above(A-E) to be

sure that next semester (8) I will not trapped the same weaknesses. However, for
professionalism, I faced less time to create great activities. Moreover, I planned to divide my
time, so each day take one hour for creating the activities. Second, planning for learning, I
plan to make notes for my activities before teaching it and study the student level it is
appropriate to them because as we know, the students have a different learning style. I
planned from now to easy for me later. The differentiation between students is a consider as
a huge challenge in our classes (Moothakencheri, 2017).

In addition, for implementing learning, I plan to be controlling my time by divide each

minute what I have to do. Then, managing learning, I plan to manage students behaviour by
following performance strategies at the begin was hard. I was able to manage them so to be
in safe side I will add more positive performance to motivate them. Additionally, for
assessment, I have to divide my time to create multiple evaluations for my students. For
instance, use padlet for the formative assessment and test for summative assessment and
that what I am working on it right now, not to face trouble next semester. I hope that I will
keep forward and not have any weakness for my last semester because I make a great plan
and study it every day to be self-independent and believe in myself.

v. 2014-05-15 15
Role of Collaboration:

Collaboration is the main part of our life, especially in education. It is a process when a
group of people discuss, work together and share their experience for the advantage of a
project or work. The role of collaboration is essential because it affects too much on the
results of the mission (Moseley, 2019).

However, the role of collaboration was a huge part of achieving the goals that I prepared
for it in PDP1. Moreover, the role of collaboration was performed with me by collaborate
with my MCT and colleagues. For example, I have a micro-teaching, so every day I
collaborate with my colleagues in zoom meeting. Also, we help each other, discuss for a new
idea, planning new strategies together and the most important that collaboration help me to
achieve my goals that already I prepared for it in PDP1. For instance, they give me ideas on
how to control the class, use differentiation activities, games such as Kahoot and splash
learning also I provide to them ideas, and we discuss together to improve it. All of these
ideas were interesting solution that I applied in this micro-teaching and provided evidence
in my PDP 2.

In addition, the collaboration helps me a lot even with my MCT. I make a zoom meeting
with her, discuss new ideas together, planning and give me feedback. That was a great
chance for me because I was able to improve from myself and create a fantastic idea to
reach my target and develop for semester 8. Also, it helps to solve any problem we have
faced. Furthermore, we discuss different idea even the assessment each one can give her
opinion so that help to create many tasks and apply the goals that I want to achieve and I
did it with providing more evidence. There are different areas to achieve my goals in the
right way that we discuss with my colleagues in the motivation, sharing and engaging
together. Also, with powerful collaboration, people lives become easier, and the process of
making the decision easier (Neill, 2018). I prefer this kind of cooperation and agree that the
role of collaboration help communicate, create useful ideas, organization and reach target
goals that we hope to. In my opinion the collaboration is the main part to achieve the
success in our life because it make the work easier and make communication between
others.

v. 2014-05-15 16
Conclusion:

In conclusion, I believe that planning for my goals helps me a lot in my future life.
As well as planning my goals that in PDP 1 and achieve it in my micro -teaching is
really given me a chance to improve my self and trust on my self that I can achieve
my goals. However, set my weakness and strength points is an important way to
improve from ourselves and reach to semester eight without facing any troubles.
Most importantly, maintain the role of collaboration because it's a huge part to
make life easier and communicate together to reach the main target that we hope
to.
