There are different online Dictionaries are available.

Things to remember:
• Choose dictionary ( e.g, choose Oxford Dictionary)

• Select word(e.g,Beautiful)

• Information that you want to get and grammatical category

Word to find:- beautiful

Search:-Words starting with letter ‘B’
Grammatical category:- Adjective
Meaning:-having beauty; giving pleasure to the senses or to the mind
Stress:- /ˈbjuːtɪfl/ (apostrophe is the sign for the stress)
Syllable:- Three syllables (beau/ti/ful)
Example:- The scenery here is so beautiful.

Parts of Speech:-
• what the word is ?
• What is the function of that word in the sentence.
Example:-Word: Convert ( Verb)
• Transcription: [ kənˈvɜːrt ]
• Syllables: 2 (Con/vert )
• Stress: VERT
• Meaning: To change the character, appearance or operation of
something

• Meaning: Someone who accept a new religion or belief
Syllable ( syl/la/ble)

• Beats of spoken language

• Single ,unbroken sound of spoken(written)
• Basic unit of English rhythm
• One Syllable(monosyllabic) that consist only one syllable. e.g, car
• Two syllables: e.g, wa/ter in water.
• Three syllables: e.g, com/pu/ter in computer
• Four syllables: e.g, cat/e/gor/y in category and so on.
Word Stress

• Create problem if not follow exactly

• Use to change meaning
• Pronounce one syllable LOUDLY and other QUIETLY
