Central Idea: A lot of times when people think of diabetes, they think of diet and watching what

I. Exactly five years ago today I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, and I had no idea
what that meant. To be honest I thought it meant that my diet was terrible, I was

a. Type 1 diabetes can be diagnosed at any time in your life, between infancy and
your early thirties. With type 1 diabetes, your pancreas stops producing insulin in

when you are really sick, and your immune system thinks the pancreas is a virus.
b. Type 2 diabetes is usually diagnosed from that age 40 and up. This is the most
common type of diabetes. In this case your body produces insulin but it either

I. When I was first diagnosed I had to learn everything in a short amount of time, so
since then I have come to learn more and more about how to keep my body healthy.
As medicine progresses and they create new technology for diabetics I learn
