To plan all the content for my clients each week, we’ve perfected a
creative process that helps us to be very efficient. In this download,
I’m going to tell you all my secrets so that you can plan your
stories.

In this .pdf, I’m going to tell you the steps

that I usually take when I sit down to think
about all the content for my stories.

I follow these steps both when I plan the

stories on my content calendar, as well as
on the days where I feel like creating
spontaneous stories and I want to use
several slides.

FIRST STEP — THE IDEA
The first step is always to come up with
the idea for the story, meaning, you
should decide what you’ll say in the story.
You might have come up with an idea
beforehand (and you wrote it down in a
notebook or in a note on your phone), it
came to you while you were
“experiencing something” and you took
photos or videos spontaneously, or you
don’t have anything yet and you have to
think of something from scratch.
If you already have your calendar post
template, you’ll already know the general
topic that the story should be on, which
will make your work much easier.

Remember that checking out what others
do is super inspiring, but I don’t
recommend looking at what your
competition is doing since you might be
tempted to copy. Just look at people and
brands with all kinds of projects from
different sectors to have lots of tools in
your bag of tricks.
Once you know what you want to say, try
to think of how you can convey that
through a story. Try to imagine that you’re
telling a story!

SECOND STEP — THE
INFORMATION
With your “tale” ready, sit down to think
about what data or information you
should include in the story so that it’s as
functional as possible and how to display
this information. This is important
because, in the design, we’ll have to
create a “puzzle” with the photos, videos
and information.

I’ll give you some ideas! It can be a
specific text, mentioning the friend that’s
in it, a link to a website, the name of a
product or the reference, a story sticker...
This is also when you should prepare the
text that will accompany each slide.
Remember! There doesn’t always have to
be text, and if there is, try to keep it as
short as possible so that you don't lose
your followers’ attention. In the Instagram
Stories course there are lots of ideas on
using a longer text and how to make it
interesting, use these! :)

THIRD STEP — THE SLIDES
Now we have our story and the
information that it will include (meaning,
what we want to communicate.) Now we
need visuals!
I always try to imagine how many slides
I’m going to need to transmit this
information and use it as a ‘template’ to
design with.
Making little drawings or quick sketches
where I design how I want to place
everything, works great. This works both if
you have already taken photos or videos,
as well as if you’re going to create them
to illustrate your story.
By the way! This is also how I plan my
photo sessions, making little drawings of
each photo :)

WHAT DO WE NEED TO
KEEP IN MIND?
The type of content that there will be on
each slide. Will there be photos? Videos?
A background color? Will the photo be as
is, or will I edit it?
The composition of the elements: both
the composition of the photo or video, as
well as the composition when you edit
this story.
Here is when we’re going to organize the
text and information that will go with
each slide so that it’s clear when it’s time
to design.

Now all that’s left is applying everything!

Use whichever apps you prefer to edit the
content and then edit and upload it.
