MESSAGE

Our forum in three days is part of a global

movement to share, learn, appreciate,
cite, and utilize research results to build a
sustainable world. Our keynote, plenary
and concurrent paper presentations are
designed for this purpose. While fear,
desperation and negativity permeate
many parts of the world, here we are
getting nourished Yes, we need these
interdisciplinary studies to find solutions to
our problems.

This conference pioneer the prerecorded

conference in the country with live
question and answer portion. Up for grab
are best in paper presentation and best
abstract awards. We thank all presenters
for navigating and accepting the challenge.

We move forward into the future in three ways: embrace new methods of research
such as mixed methods; convert RRL and questionnaires into two separate
publications; and; get foreign collaborators and co-authors of our studies.

Finally, we penetrate foreign audiences as we enjoy affordable, risk-free, and

cross-pollinating research conferences.

Enjoy this conference!

MESSAGE

November 18, 2020

Warmest greetings from Cambodia, NGPRC!

Dear Professors, Researchers, Teachers and society members!

It is with great pleasure that I welcome all of you to the 3rd Asia Pacific
Conference on Interdisciplinary Research, on theme: “Research to
capacitate migration of Universities for New Normal Environment.”,
held via Zoom on November 24-25, 2020.

Today, we are all living in the 21st century, era of economically, in

information communications and technology, and more, and the
21st century is Asia’s century. Higher education has undergone
some dramatic changes throughout the last few decades. With the
advancement of mobile technology and social media, we will continue
to see more evolution amongst academic institutions. With this
fact in mind, I believe it is our responsibility as educators, university
administrators and policy makers, to be at the forefront of change and
be ready to adapt to this evolution. We must not let tradition and old
habits prevent us from being open-minded and embrace what could
lead to a transformational teaching and learning experience.

From the theme and aims of the conference above, it is obvious that we get involved in solving the challenges
at all school levels and we will help to improve both the quality and efficiency of the 21st century education.

To achieve the above goals, we all need to examine and select the best published works to share as the basis
solutions to deal with all the challenges that faced in our own institutions. We come up with new perspectives
for addressing issues in education, institutional issues and challenges that may happen in the future.

Wishing all of you, professors, researchers, teachers, and all members of the ASEAN Society of Teachers for
Research Inc., all in peace and prosperity.

Sincerely yours,

Prof. Chan Roath

the Honorary President of the Asian Society of Teachers for Research, Inc.

ntegrating Web 2.0 tools technology into the learning experience of the learners help them
develop skills needed in the 21st century era. However, little is known whether educators in the
Philippine state universities heed to this call. Furthermore, previous studies have focused mainly
on investigating the acceptance and use of technology in education among general population
of educators but not, to the best of the researcher’s knowledge, among educators who adhere
to either high or low transmissive pedagogical beliefs among Philippine state universities. Hence, the
contribution of this study is focused on investigating the factors that determine the acceptance and use
of Web 2.0 tools technology into the teaching activities using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and
Use of Technology (UTAUT) model among the educators in a Philippine state university in general,
and among those who adhere to high and low transmissive pedagogical belief in particular. To carry
out the empirical study and to test the hypothesized model, this study employed exploratory sequential-
concurrent explanatory embedded mixed method research design. Data were collected from purposively
selected 300 educators in a Philippine state university located in Northern Mindanao on March and April
2019. Using SmartPLS version 3.2.8, the PLS-SEM and PLS-MGA were conducted to test the UTAUT
model and the differences in the acceptance and use of Web 2.0 tools between low and high transmissive
pedagogical belief groups of educators. The findings of this study revealed that performance expectancy
and effort expectancy significantly influence the behavioral intention, while the social influence does
not. Subsequently, facilitating condition and behavioral intention significantly influence the use behavior
of the educators. Moreover, results of the multiple group analysis showed that there is a significant
difference between the low and high transmissive pedagogical belief group in the behavioral intention
to use Web 2.0 tools related to their performance and effort expectancies. However, both groups have
no differences in their behavioral intention and actual use of Web 2.0 tools related to social influence,
facilitating condition and behavioral intent. Overall, the current study sheds light on the reason why there
is variations in the acceptance and use of Web 2.0 tools among the educators based on the qualitative data
that were gathered. One of the most important contribution of this study is the extension of the UTAUT
model with the addition of the pedagogical belief as a moderating variable among the relationships of the
latent constructs in the UTAUT model in the context of higher education educators. Further implications
and suggestions for further studies are also presented in this study.

between respondents’ profile and the level of implementation for ISO 9001:2015 certification, and the
significant difference in the perception of the respondents’ implementation towards ISO 9001:2015.The
quantitative-descriptive method was employed to 234 respondents through random stratified sampling.
Frequency and weighted mean, Pearson Product Moment Correlation, and One-Way Analysis of
Variance (ANOVA) was applied in treating the data. Results showed that the level of implementation
of SDSSU on ISO 9001:2015 as perceived by the key officials and faculty had congruent perception.
ISO 9001:2015 is a continual process for improvement; the results of the study gave insights to the top

With the current situation in the educational system amidst the coronavirus pandemic and the call for
flexible learning, Saint Michael College of Caraga has deemed it necessary to survey its internal and
external stakeholders. The researchers used descriptive research design by Creswell & Creswell (2017)
in conducting the study. Based on the findings, the result shows that the respondents, the JHS, SHS,
College, and Teachers of Saint Michael College of Caraga, are ready for flexible learning. The majority
of the respondents have smartphones and laptops and can connect to the internet through mobile
data and Wi-Fi providers. Since smartphones and laptops and an internet connection are the technical
requirements for online education. It was recommended that the official online platforms or learning
management system first be established by the institution. Also, the respondents use mobile data as
their source of internet connection, a flexible learning scheme that would have low usage of mobile
data to lessen the students’ expenses, and offline class or use of modules or learning materials should
also be an option for those students who don’t have connectivity. Moreover, teachers should undergo
trainings and seminars on how to conduct online classes, and the curriculum should be revisited to
accommodate the paradigm shift.

Today’s health care organizations continue to face generational workforce challenges in an environment
where ideas, collaboration, and good communications are essential for sustainability. The study aimed
to assess the leadership style of administrators associated with motivational drivers of millennial nurses
in the selected hospitals in Northern Mindanao. A descriptive correlational research design was used
involving 146 respondents in two hospitals who were randomly sampled. Survey questionnaires were the
principal. Findings revealed that there were more female millennial nurses, 68.50 percent, more were in
the age from 21 – 26, single category had 69.90 percent and married had 28.80 percent. The perceived
leadership styles of administrators signify those hospital administrators based their leadership style on the
situation they are facing. Millennial nurses perceived their motivational drivers as moderate, with focused on
immediate feedback. There was significant association between Fiedler’s Contingency leadership style and
motivational drivers (P-value = 0.000), Path-goal leadership style and motivational drivers (P-value = 0.000),
Hersey-Blanchard leadership style (P-value = 0.000). The study concluded that Path-goal leadership style
was the leading leadership style used by hospital administrators, which motivated more millennial nurses.
Recommendations are: creating a healthy work environment for the millennial nurses, administrators should
improve their policy on mentoring and salary scheme, and provide proper guidelines for the millennial nurses
and Hospital administrators to follow by using a general manual.

Schools need to have effective principals as leaders. However, feedback on the selection process of principals
has been correlated to many shortcomings in the performance of the duty of many principals. The study aimed
to predict the leadership legal framework practices among school principals in educational leadership, people
leadership, and strategic leadership and the Selection Merit Plan adopted by the Department of Education in
terms of selection, designation, and promotion. The study utilized descriptive-predictive design to randomly
select 174 Public elementary school principals in the 9 Schools Divisions of South Central Mindanao in
Cotabato City, General Santos City, Kidapawan City, Koronadal City, North Cotabato, Sarangani, South
Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Tacurong City, Philippines, using a researcher-made survey questionnaire
validated by experts and tested its reliability on alpha Cronbach and treated employing multiple regression.
Findings revealed that the best predictor that emerged based on the effectiveness of the leadership legal
framework is educational leadership. Hence, the principals of public elementary schools must strictly adopt
the leadership legal framework since it is mandated by law as part of the indicators for performance outcome
as the basis for selection, promotion, and designation. So, it is recommended to strengthen technical support
in helping designated principals to pass the principal’s exam to be promoted for a permanent item.

The Philippines has posted an increasing Liner Shipping Connectivity Index (LSCI) score, ranking
61st out of 162 countries in 2017 from rank 66 out of 159 counties in 2012. This situation captures a
country’s level of integration into global liner shipping networks and its access to world markets through
regular shipping services for the import and export of manufactured goods. Filipinos represent the
largest nationality of maritime crew serving the international merchant marine fleet covering 378,072
Filipino seafarers deployed overseas in 2017. The Philippines is the premier provider of competent and
professional seafarers in the international seaborne trade, which accounts for more than 25% of the total
crew requirements onboard international merchant marine vessels. The study embarks on quantifying
the commercial value of a Maritime student in SJIT as the student transforms into a professional in the
Maritime industry. Using the financial viability tools, the student has a commercial value of 9.1million
pesos upon entering the SJIT Maritime Education. Maritime education is a highly-valued program that
has an estimated benefit-cost ratio of 6.08. It is in this light that policies, programs, and activities of the
institution need to be relevant, proactive, and in-synch with the industry developments.

Political ideologies and power are shaped by politicians’ manipulation of linguistic features that appeared
in their public discourses. Employing the transitivity system, this study investigated President Donald
Trump’s speech during the 2020 “March for Life” to identify the transitivity processes and to determine
how these processes are assimilated in the said discourse. Findings revealed that 126 transitivity
processes are dominantly material, relational, and mental. Being the first US president who graced this
event, material processes constructed a self-statement of initiatives and efforts in preserving human
life and his attack on his political nemesis as threats to the preservation of the value and dignity of life.
Relational processes have constructed life-protection ideas by valuing the significance of the children
and the unborn. Trump’s feelings toward the dignity of life are shaped by mental processes by his direct
association to the public as among the advocates of human life. Ironically, transitivity processes have
shown minimal involvement of women in his speech, contrary to the theme. Data shows that language
employed in a public discourse builds power and ideologies that serve as the human framework to
understand the mind of the speaker.

Mushrooms are vital components of the forest ecosystems that play an important ecological role, eco-
nomic advantage, and provide nutritious food to humans. The study was designed to determine the
proximate analysis of a wild and edible mushroom, Schizophyllum commune, using the standard pro-
tocol. The ethanolic crude extract was analyzed for the total phenolic content (TPC) using the Folin-
Ciocalteu method and the total flavonoid content (TFC) using the aluminum chloride. The antioxidant
potential was evaluated using the 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity.
Proximate analysis of the sample revealed that apart from moisture content (60.60±0.122%), it has a
high amount of bioactive carbohydrates (25.15±0.005%), crude protein content (7.63±0.325%), ash
content (6.17±0.001%), crude fiber (0.18±0.032%), and fat content (0.27±0.263%) which worth it to
be nutritious food. The final concentration for TPC is 1.27±006 mgGAE/g and TFC is 17.18±0.054
mgRE/g. The extract exhibited a potential antioxidant activity with an IC50 = 1.39±0.005 mg/mL. The
results suggest that the ethanolic crude extract of S. commune contains a natural antioxidant potential,
which could be used for future applications in food, dietary supplements, and pharmaceutical industries.

A host of factors seem to affect agricultural production in Ifugao. Aside from the traditional production
factors, climate change may have begun to make inroads in the relatively slow performance of the
sector, considering it being an economic booster of the province of Ifugao. A decrease in production
capacities has led to the reduction of food security and the perturbed livelihood of the Ifugao farmers.
This paper then aimed to understand both production and climatic variables that has affected agricultural
production and yields and household food security in Ifugao. Results showed that the computed LVI-
IPCC value for Ifugao shows that the province is moderately vulnerable from a scale of -1 to 1 and that
farmers in Ifugao generally have low adaptive capacity in all five indicators used in this study, except for
livelihood diversity. The econometric model also showed that maximum temperature and precipitation
affected agricultural production in the province of Ifugao, Philippines.

Leadership development among young children has remained an abstract concept in the Philippine
school setting. Research on the aspect of leadership focusing on Filipino children is scanty because
there are limited existing instruments. Thus, this study will explore the Early Childhood Education
teachers’ perception on child leadership. This also offers the development of a survey instrument to
validate the teachers’ child leadership recognition. Exploratory Sequential Mixed Methods Research
(MMR) Design was selected to broadly explore and analyze the Kindergarten teachers’ perception on
child leadership. Focus Group Discussion was conducted among ten (10) private school teachers for
the qualitative part of the study. The top leadership descriptors that emerged from the FGD were the
basis for the development of leadership for young children instrument. Using a Likert-type response
format, ninety-five (95) Child Development Center teachers, selected through purposive sampling
technique, participated in the validation of Leadership in Young Filipino Children Survey (LYFCS)*.
Findings provided information regarding the teacher’s identification of child leadership. The results
also filled an important gap in the current literature on the importance of recognizing and enhancing
leadership skills among young Filipino children.

Coping is a fundamental mechanism in dealing with stress. It can help avoid the damages caused by
severe or chronic stress to one’s health and well-being. This study aimed to determine the perceived
stress and coping style of Filipino families with victims of the drug war in the Philippines as a basis
for the stress management program. It is composed of mothers and wives from the areas of Quezon
City and Caloocan City, Philippines. It does not seek to assess the psychopathological condition that
may be present among victims, which may eventually be of value toward diagnosing post-traumatic
stress disorder or any other trauma-related disorder. Rather, it examines the respondents to have a
better grasp of their coping styles following significant stress. The method utilized in this research
was descriptive correlational. Based on the findings, the researcher concludes that the result of the
Perceived Stress Scale of the respondents supported the previous researches about the heightened
psychological distress. The correlational analysis between the perceived stress level and coping style
of the respondents revealed that some variables of coping style were observed with relationship to
the perceived stress level of the respondents. Due to heightened perceived stress level, a stress
management program is highly recommended to help family combat with stress.

The study of exploring the green technology practices and investments of beach-resorts in Sipalay
City, Negros Occidental, Philippines, was realized in support of the worldwide call of promoting
responsible and sustainable eco-tourism sites. It discloses how these six resorts use green products
in their operations, manage their waste, energy, and water resources, uncover practices that need
improvement, including its primary causes, and evaluate their green technology investments’ progress.
This study is qualitative and designed as a multiple case study. Data were collected and validated
through methodological triangulation (interview, document analysis, and on-site validation) and
analyzed using QDA (qualitative data analysis). Thus, notable findings include the resorts’ use of
stainless in replacement to plastic straws, glasses instead of disposable cups, and paper instead of
Styrofoam boxes. Hence, the absence of compost pitting, the lack of a water control system, and the
undersupply of solar panels are a few of the resorts’ drawbacks. Therefore, this study discerns that
the disproportion between capital and ROI (return of investments) and the guests’ lodging behavior
influence the resorts’ green technology practices and investments.

Wastes that are not properly managed, especially liquid and solid waste from households and the
community, are serious health hazards and lead to the spread of infectious diseases. Thus, the
researcher formulated a solution to make them useful in order to minimize the excessive generation of
waste. This study aims to develop a Precast Concrete Fence Panel made from recycled plastic bottles
and rice hulls ash to be used for commercial and industrial sites, livestock backyards, landscapes, pools,
and ports. Specifically, the appropriate proportion of materials in its fabrication was also determined.
Its performance quality in terms of hardness, compressive strength, specific gravity and absorption
was tested. Moreover, its acceptability in terms of performance, durability, and reliability was likewise
determined. This study adopted the developmental-descriptive method of research. The design and
fabrication of the Precast Concrete Fence Panel resulted in a product that permits light and airflow,
has a pivotal post, stackable, and with added green material. The performance quality of the Precast
Concrete Fence Panel in terms of hardness, compressive strength, specific gravity, and absorption is
within the acceptable standard range for concrete. The performance, durability, and reliability of the
Precast Concrete Fence Panel were highly acceptable to the evaluators.

Organizational Development (OD), a strategic process of improvement, addressing organizational

changes through careful assessment and planned interventions, which the Quality Management
System (QMS) ISO 9001:2015 were able to provide a substantial influence in OD direction and
interventions. The study was designed to improve the existing organizational structures to a more
systematic, standardized, and collaborative approach to increase quality policy, profit, job satisfaction,
positive company image, client satisfaction, operational results, and business success. A mixed-
method called convergent parallel design was utilized to obtain a complete understanding from the
two databases. The results revealed in relation to Transformational Theory (Jarman, 1973) used in
this study that forming, norming, fulfilling, and bifurcation affected the core management operations of
the entire organization, elevated productivity, and operations efficiency, kept the employee motivated,
attracted financial investors, and minimized risks. The QMS ISO 9001:2015 standard was partially
complied with and has been examined by external lead auditors, although several clauses need to
be observed to meet the standards. The study concluded that the marketing organization benefited
substantially from organization development intervention that streamlines the mission, vision, goals,
and targets, policies, programs, human resources, procedures, processes, through the implementation
of the QMS.

Inmate rehabilitation is considerably the most onerous aim of the correction pillar. It prescribes
considerable costs, varied experts, and sufficient amenities, which other countries successfully provided.
Inmates` Welfare and Development Program (IWDP) in the Philippines persists, albeit, in juxtaposition,
the government is characterized by poverty, corruption, and under-resourcing of correctional facilities.
With the fragmented system faced by Philippine jails and prisons, the efficacy of rehabilitation programs
is often put into the limelight. Hence, using a phenomenological approach, this paper investigates the
hermeneutics of prisoners` lived experiences on the IWDP. The results are expected to foreground
the issues on the implementation of the IWPD in the Philippine Bureau of Jail Management and
Penology. Findings unfold Inmates` Welfare and Development Program (IWDP) laudable contribution
to the physiological, psychosocial, and economic aspects of the inmates. However, its implementation
had been significantly impaired by the manifestation of hefty jail overcrowding, which in the course
of its existence, consequently ensued irregularities, inefficacy, disruptions, and sparse participation.
Alternatively, the dilemma may be ascribed to the shortfall of financial allocation. Amidst challenges
in IWDP, interestingly, religiosity was deemed as a coping resource against negative experiences and
was seen as a catalyst against the pitfalls of Inmates` Welfare and Development Program.

The study determined the occupational stress, coping mechanisms, and job satisfaction among the public
elementary school teachers in Arakan West District. Specifically, determine the level of occupational stress,
coping mechanism, and job satisfaction of elementary school teachers; and the significant relationship
between occupational stress and coping mechanism, and the job satisfaction of the respondents. This
study employed descriptive correlational research with case presentations. Complete enumeration was
used as a sampling technique. The respondents frequently experienced work stressors, sometimes
experienced role stressors, personal development stressors, interpersonal relations stressors, and climate
stressors. Teachers in Arakan West District sometimes coped with the stressors through physical and
mental stress management. In terms of teaching load satisfaction, the respondents disagreed that they
were satisfied with the nature of work, supervision, co-workers, communication, promotion, and contingent
rewards. However, they moderately agreed on: pay, fringe benefits, and operating conditions. The physical
and mental stress management was found positively correlated with teaching load and administrative
satisfaction. Occupational stress and coping mechanism significantly influenced job satisfaction. In
conclusion, teachers experienced various stresses. Despite complaints of additional work aside from their
teaching load, they tend to cope up with it and become satisfied with their job.

In 2016, the World Health Organization declared that suicide is the fifteenth leading cause of death
worldwide. Locally, it was reported on February 12, 2020, that at least 23 people committed suicide in
the city recently and have caused alarm to the Committee on Women and Family Relations. This study
aimed to determine the profile of suicide cases in Cagayan de Oro City with gender-based analysis
(GBA). GBA is a tool to understand the local context and to support gender equality. As used in the
study, it examined the relationships between men and women, girls and boys, and the constraints
they face relative to each other in a particular context. Since suicide is considered a sensitive topic
for investigation, the researchers decided to use published cases. In such a way, the data gathered
were already made public and would not violate data privacy provisions. Following the seven steps to
a GBA, the suicide cases analyzed were culled from Gold Star Daily published from 2018 to the first
quarter of 2020. The findings revealed 11 published cases in 2018, 15 in 2019, and seven during the
first quarter of 2020. Of the 33 total cases, men registered the most number (72.7%) with age ranging
from 16-35 years old. Also, the prevalence of suicide cases occurred more among younger men than
women, while more cases among older women than men. Depression due to family and relationship
problems were found to be the leading cause of committing suicide 45.8% for male and 83.3% Female.

Attendance monitoring is of strategic importance to every organization. It had shifted from paper-
based to utilizing concepts like the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, and face recognition for
real-time attendance monitoring and accuracy of attendance records. Tempus presents a system that
improves the process of attendance monitoring by utilizing face recognition technology and a mobile
platform that automates notification functions regarding attendance logs and updates. To achieve its
purpose, it is designed with an information system for administrators, a mobile application for teachers,
and the use of Raspberry Pi, camera sensor, and GSM module. After the integration of hardware
and software components, user acceptance testing was performed by twenty-two evaluators such as
administrators, professionals, and teachers by simulating all possible interactions with the system from
account creation to report generation. The software quality and performance measurement instrument
by Lowell Jay Arthur was adapted in a survey questionnaire. Its face recognition component was
capable of detecting and recognizing faces with an average accuracy of 83% in real-time. Tests results
showed that the final system is effective and efficient. The inclusion of mobile platform has ensured fast
information dissemination between administrators and teachers. Tempus is an addition to the growing
list of smart systems and promotes the integration of smart technologies.

Mental health is an important topic worldwide. Numerous studies have shown that mental health
should be given proper care because of its long-lasting effect on the overall well-being of an individual.
Several studies have discovered that religiosity and marital satisfaction have relationships with mental
health. This research examined the relationship between religiosity (intellectual, ideology, public
practice, private practice, and religious experience), marital satisfaction, and mental health (anxiety,
depression, loss of behavioral or emotional control, general positive affect, and emotional ties) among
Latter-day Saint married couples who reside in Metro Manila, Philippines. The method utilized in this
research was a descriptive correlational design. Research findings show that there is a significant
relationship between religiosity and the mental health of the respondents. General positive affect was
also positively correlated with intellectual, ideology, public practice, private practice, and religious
experience. Depression was negatively correlated with religious experience. Further, there is a
significant relationship between marital satisfaction and mental health. Specifically, marital satisfaction
was positively correlated with general positive affect and emotional ties. On the other hand, marital
satisfaction was negatively correlated with depression. This research provides significant insights that
addresses the need for better mental health practices among couples. Moreover, this research created
an intervention program from the obtained results.

Maguindanaon is one of the biggest tribes of Bangsamoro in terms of population. Like other Moro tribes,
Maguindanaon people possess extraordinary skills in warfare. Their bravery in war was proven many
times in history. Their involvement in warfare resulted in a wrong impression by non-Bangsamoro group.
They are always misinterpreted as trouble makers, killers, terrorists, and other negative descriptions.
The study aimed to analyze the concept of peace and war based on Islamic views that were stated in
Qur’an and Hadith. A qualitative design was used in this study. The three epics were analyzed through
descriptive content analysis and indigenous methods. The epics used were collected by the researcher
and then translated into Filipino. Using conflict theory, accommodation theory, and the concepts of
compromise, conciliation-mediation, qallamullah, and sunnah, it was discovered that Maguindanaon
-Taw sa Laya ended up to war just to protect themselves, their families, and other people who were at
risk. This was shown by the wars that took place which, involved the primary characters of the epics’
in the name of justice, freedom, and peace that fits the condition of Islam’s in allowing war, which
is to protect and save oneself and other people who are in great danger. This implied that the wars
that took place were according to Islamic belief. Those historic wars resulted in knowing the lineage,
reconciliation, and unity of the previously opposing parties that symbolized peace.

Leadership has been called an essential component in social behavior in children. Researchers have
observed leadership behavior in young children and suggested that these behaviors be encouraged in
early childhood classrooms. However, teachers lack a clear definition of who a child leader is. Research
on the aspect of leadership, focusing on Filipino children is scanty. Thus, the primary aim of this paper
is to share valuable literature on young Filipino children’s emerging leadership skills. This paper offers a
framework on how early childhood classroom teachers could recognize and enhance child leadership.
Focus Group Discussion was conducted with ten (10) private school teachers to gather initial information
on teachers’ perceptions of child leadership. Prevalent leadership characteristics that emerged from
the discussion were the basis for the development of a child leadership model. This was designed to
fill the gap in the literature on the importance of recognizing and enhancing leadership skills among
young Filipino children. The Filipino Child Leadership Theory would aid in enhancing the teaching and
learning process leading to the development of 21st-century learners who possess leadership skills
that would enable them to be adaptive, collaborative, and globally competitive.

One of the most significant functions of an administrator or manager revolves around managerial
control. The responsibility of controlling is further made complicated by the need to determine how
well employees and other personnel behave and carry out the duties of their assigned jobs. In order
for a manager to meet and conquer the demands of this very challenging managerial function, the
manager has to review the work performance of each employee and other office personnel directly
under his or her authority. The main purpose of this study was to appraise the Performance Process
Level of the employees of Sulu State College. A descriptive-correlational survey was used. Specifically,
it presents an appraisal of the performance process level of Sulu State College employees during
the School Year 2019-2020, their demographic profiles in terms of age, sex, educational attainment,
and length of service; the performance level in terms of leadership roles and management functions.

Climate change is real and has a severe impact on the different aspects of our environment. It prompted
the researcher to study the effects of climate change through a socioscientific issue-based module.
Thus, it determines the effectiveness of socioscientific issues-based instruction modules in teaching
climate change. Specifically, the research focuses on answering the respondents’ pre-test and post-
test scores on the causes and effects of climate change and its significant difference between the
pre-test and post-test of the respondents in the experimental and control group. Is there a significant
mean gain difference between the experimental and control group? Research findings revealed that
the scores of the respondents before the implementation of the module was under poor and fair in both
the experimental and control group. The posttest showed that more students got good, very good,
and excellent scores in the experimental group at sixty-four percent compared to the control group at
forty-eight percent. The study showed that the mean gain of the two groups was the same. The study
established that socioscientific issues-based modules for both groups are effective in teaching that
improves students’ knowledge and understanding of climate change.

Videogame developer ‘Rockstar Games’ created “Grand Theft Auto” as a representation of western
pop culture and its inevitable worldwide influence. Amid the games’ popularity based on its standard-
setting gameplay, manufactured childish violence, and explicit satire, “GTAV” has been deemed as
an interactive cultural barometer for its portrayals of contemporary society. The game heavily delves
in contexts such as ‘trending’, ‘first-world problems’, and ‘memes’ among other concepts, ranging
from the banal obsession for popularity to the serious issues of health neuroses. This study aims to
explain the inferences of “GTA V” on western pop culture and its influences on a global scale. This
was explored through a descriptive-content analysis involving literary criticism with the study focusing
on the “GTAV” gameplay, media content, and storyline. The study revealed pop cultural elements
that insinuates western culture’s inscrutable arbitrary legal system, unfair wealth distribution, political
apathy, and society’s addiction to reality television, celebrity magazines, and social media. Peculiar to
the “GTAV” content and gameplay is its heavy inferences and allusions to actual contemporary social
phenomena, in conclusion, given the highly-interactive and immersive nature of videogames (such as
“GTAV”), playing these titles are excellent avenues for cultural immersion through digital media.

The research traced the aftermath of using graphic organizers (GOs) to the achievement of Grade XI
students in Social Science. Six specific problems on the pre-posttest of students in Social Studies were
measured. The one-shot time-series experimental design and the complete enumeration method were
utilized with the mean, mean percentage, standard deviation, z-test, chi-square, t-test for the treatment
of data findings. The pre-test bears a very low performance on the six skills tested. However, there
is a notable variation and increase in mastery level of Grade XI students during the second and third
quarter examinations, and the post-test achievement of students is at the average level. There is a
significant relationship between the achievement level of students and their attitude towards the use of
GOs. The efforts of the teachers to use graphic organizers in teaching Social Science were fruitful. The
shift in paradigm in teaching and learning Social Science has developed the meta-cognitive skills of a
student and their higher-level thinking skills.

The study explored the lived experiences of drug rehabilitated individuals under the Community-Based
Treatment. Phenomenology was used as a research design, with data obtained from a purposive sample
of eleven (11) drug rehabilitated individuals. To interpret their experiences, clusters of themes were then
generated using Colaizzi’s method of Phenomenological Inquiry. The results of the study revealed that
the lived experiences of drug rehabilitated individuals under the Community-Based Treatment involved
multidimensional issues, emerging twelve (12) themes, and compared those themes in 12 different
species of butterfly. Owing to the fact that blue butterflies are often a sign of life, so are the rehabilitated
individuals who are now social and receptive to friends and family members (Karner butterfly). Just
like this species of butterfly, some of the drug rehabilitated individuals did not change as such when it
comes to physiological appearance but were not violent again (Viceroy butterfly). After the treatment,
they feel renewed and become contented as opposed to when they were under the drug influence
(Morphos butterfly). The rehabilitated depended on others during the program to feel motivated to carry
on despite all odds (Peacock butterfly).

The onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic has forced higher education institutions to rethink pedagogical
approaches in continuing their services in the midst of the new normal. With the boom of flexible
learning as a prevalent pedagogical approach, the Surigao del Sur State University, Cagwait Campus
unites with CHED’s endeavor to explore innovative alternatives to resume its quality education amidst
the pandemic. With the options to employ differing modalities, the need to actively seek evidences
may provide institutions to employ compatible approaches to address the urgency of educational
resumption. Moreover, the study seeks to: 1)describe learners’ technological capacity and accessibility;
2)describe learners’ willingness and experiences towards flexible learning; and, 3)describe compatible
learning modality in the COVID-19 context. Using Google Forms as survey questionnaires, online rapid
assessment was conducted along with the enrollment process and data was analyzed using descriptive
statistics. Results suggest that respondents are willing to pursue virtual learning. Currently enrolled
learners have modest technological accessibility and capacity as a means for virtual or distant learning
and, responses are described as neutral as to all types of virtual modality. The necessity to determine
learning approaches benefits both learners and the learning institution itself. Despite the academic
challenges, learners continue to pursue education even with a limited to modest technological assets.

The impact of the tourism industry on the Philippines’ economy, the Department of Tourism, the
Philippines’ tourism’s primary agency, has aggressively promoted the Philippines as a tourist
destination with several promotional and marketing strategies. The study assessed the satisfaction
of the tourists on different attributes in natural attractions. Two hundred thirty tourists took part in
this study. The instruments are made up of three parts. Part 1 pertains to the respondents’ profile,
part 2 contains items on determining the tourists’ satisfaction, and part 3 pertains to the guests’
challenges. The gathered data were treated statistically using frequency, simple percentage,
weighted mean, and rank. Tourists had expressed their satisfaction with the different factors they
experienced. However, tourists also encountered some problems while visiting the tourist sites.
The information on service quality gaps could help tourist destination managers diagnose where
performance improvement can best be targeted. The management needs a relatively stable labor
force to allow the internalization of service standards.

This research aimed to determine the collocations in a window of words surrounding Man and Woman
in e-novels; and identify the negative and positive evaluative expressions describing Man and Woman
in e-novels. The researcher used descriptive research. The corpus used in the research was the 16
E-romantic novels, with a total of 515,214 words published in the 21st Century. These were downloaded
from the internet. All the e-novels were copied and pasted in the notepad to convert files. The files were
opened in the Antconc Software. The positive and negative collocations used in a window to the right of
the words man and woman were identified and categorized based on the themes that occurred from the
Antconc. The results showed that the collocations in a window of words surrounding Man and Woman
in e-novels are about the emotional aspect, job performance, intelligence level, and attitude of man and
woman towards the opposite sex. On emotional expressions, a man is stronger than the woman. On
job performance, a woman performs better than a man. On the intelligence level, a woman is smarter
than a man. On attitude towards the opposite sex, a man shows more affection towards a woman, but
he tends to abuse a woman by hurting her physically and emotionally.

This study determined the differences in the academic performance of dominant multiple intelligence
of the respondents as a basis for a proposed teaching strategy that can be a teaching and learn-
ing paradigm. It utilized the descriptive and comparative research method to identify and analyze the
similarities and differences among the sixty-four samples. A standardized test called The Teele Inven-
tory of Multiple Intelligence was used to examine the dominant intelligences of the pupils. Academic
performance scores of the pupils came from the Early Childhood Development Checklist, as recorded
by the teacher. Through the use of Statistical Package for Social Sciences, findings revealed that the
academic performance was measured to be on the average overall development, which means that
there was a significant difference between the Multiple Intelligence and the Academic Performance of
the respondents. Only Musical Intelligence predicts the academic performance of the pupils. Putting
great weight on the outcome of the study, it is aptly suggested to utilize the Teaching Strategies for
Kindergarten Manual as a guide in implementing a variety of teaching methods and techniques in the
classroom setting.

The study analyzed the productivity and profitability of the different IGEs of the four Campus Business
Affairs offices. A total of twenty respondents, comprising of faculty and non-teaching staff involved in
the IGE operation of the four campuses of the University, were taken. Frequency counts, percentages,
weighted means, and t-test were used to analyze the data gathered. The majority of income generated
from campuses came from rental fees from stalls, hostels, and dormitory, including cap and gowns.
Other merchandising activities that realized positive ROI are the production of ID, lanyards, yearbooks,
and workbook materials. Productivity and profitability of IGEs have no direct influence on the
implementation of the IGPs and does not largely depend on the University Business Office affairs
policies. Problems perceived to affect the project implementation include the delay in the procurement
of supplies and equipment, limited funds to implement new projects, and a lack of designated place
for product disposal (marketing center). Effective monitoring, evaluation, and control system shall be

tasks as school leaders, instructional leaders, creating a student-centered learning climate, managing
human resources and professional development, involving parents and community partnership,
managing school and operations, and their personal and professional attributes and interpersonal
effectiveness. There existed a significant difference of respondents’ perceptions in the implementation
of School Heads’ Development Program specifically in the domain on school leadership. An appropriate
intervention program to enhance the school heads’ skills in creating a student-centered learning climate
is proposed.

Community vulnerabilities are felt at a time of disaster. The geographic distance also amplifies the
difficulty in responding to disasters. However, countryside communities can heighten their capacity
to plan and manage disaster-recovery and rebuilding efforts through essential collaborative activities
geared towards resilience and long-term sustainability. Resilience is an essential concept for responding
hazards through policies and programs that would contribute long-term community benefits. Thus, this
study intends to find out the extent to which the local government units and the rural communities
respond to disasters and pandemics exploring obstacles that influence future disaster policies that
would lead to establishing rural communities’ resilience. Research strategy includes Data Mining using
the 2019 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index dataset. The scope included component
cities in the province of Surigao del Sur. The result indicates that there is varied general organizational
capacity or the socio-demographic profile of each area. This in turn affects the collaborative networks
for disaster/pandemic resilience as well as the challenges met by the communities vital for building
disaster/pandemic mitigation efforts.

Teachers in higher education institutions are permitted to have a system of grading their students.
They are authorized to create and use their rubrics, grading scales, and transmutation tables for every
subject that they teach. This, however, is conditioned that their final grades should conform to the
standards set by the school they are employed in. Most teachers give markings for different academic
requirements such as written and practical examinations, quizzes, exercises, reports, and projects.
Regardless of the requirements, with this notion, different formulas are used based on their various
factors. In some cases, they use different rating scales for each, thus needing transmutation tables to
unify grade equivalences for the final remark. For state universities and colleges, it follows the grade
point system scale 1.00 – 5.00. Based on this grade point system, the study aims to suggest common
formulas in the computation of grades. The study computed the equivalent grade of an assessment
based on the total number of items, based on the percentage passing set by the teacher, and based on
the grading system wherein the teacher is accustomed to. The results showed that this may be used
to standardize the computation of grades in state universities and colleges.
