with Tamara Laporte

Supplies used this session
Please note, below are the supplies I used, but you can substitute the supplies if and
where needed if you don't have what I've used.

 1 Sheet of hotpressed watercolour paper (140lbs) (I used 16 x 12” but you can use
12 x 9” if you prefer)
 Graphite pencil (I like the graphgear 1000 by pentel 2b in lead, 0.9 width, but any
graphite pencil will do).
 Watercolour paints
 Acrylics Inks (I used liquitex and Daler Rowney)
 Colour pencils
 Posca pens black and white (or other waterproof black/ white pens)
Colour Scheme today: analogous.

Simple steps to creating a quirky/ whimsical lion:

1. Sketch your lion in simple shapes. Don’t worry about perfection,

quirky animals can be wonky.
2. Start adding light washes of watercolour paints first.
3. Deepen the shading by adding layers of paint as you go.
4. Add line work and details with posca pens.
