Happy Hands are Learning Hands
Tami
Fishing for Pets
Skill: Children will follow agreed upon rules for game.
(listening to others and taking turns speaking.) Children will
build vocabulary.
Deal five cards to each player. Place remaining cards in a pile face
down. Teacher chooses first child to go. Each child asks one player
for a certain card. Example “Tami do you have a puppy?” Child
must already be holding one card of the requested card.
If child asked is holding the card, that child must give the person the
card. Once child has a matching set he places that set in front of
him.

If the child asked did not have the card he would answer, “Go Fish.”
Then that child would draw a card from the pile. If it made a match
child would place the matching set down in front of him.

The next player is the one that said “go fish” or that had to relinquish
card.

Once all of the cards have been matched game is over.

Played with 2 to 4 players

To make a card set make two copies of the pet shop cards onto
cardstock and laminate for durability.
