FIVE CARDINAL RULES

TO AUTHENTICATE LEGITIMATE
IMMIGRATION CONSULTANT
Immigration consultants are primarily hired for guidance and value addition to their visa
application - without realizing that the delivery of these services depends on a third, more
important, prerequisite - Services of an Authorized Representative.
To check if your immigration consultant is verified, follow the Canadian federal government
guidelines:
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigration-citi
zenship-representative/choose/authorized.html
Majority of so called ‘immigration consultants’ in India do not offer services of an authorized
representative and few who do - in most cases - make false claims of being affiliated to an
authorized representative. In doing so, they violate the rules of the Immigration Consultants
of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC) - and cheat clients.
Please do not accept the authenticity of an Immigration Consultant based on mention of
RCIC agent in their website or a forwarded video. To avoid falling prey to fraudulent
consultants, follow the ICCRC guidelines: https://iccrc-crcic.ca/fraud-prevention/

THE FIVE CARDINAL RULES OF CHOOSING AN AUTHENTIC IMMIGRATION

CONSULTANCY ARE:
1. The agreement you sign must bear the name and registration ID of the authorized
representative.
2. The agreement must be between you and the authorized representative, not between
you and the consultancy.
3. Check the claimed RCIC agents name on the ICCRC website -
https://iccrc-crcic.ca/find-a-professional/
4. When you find the name of the claimed RCIC agent, click the contact link mentioned
next to his name. On opening the link, you MUST find the name of RCIC agents’ firm
and name of the company (for example in India) under the agents heading. If name of
the Indian company is not found the contact information, on the ICCRC website,
alongside of the claimed RCIC agents’ contact, it means that ICCRC has not been
informed of the association and clients are not getting services of such an RCIC agent
nor do they have any complaints rights - to be filed with ICCRC - against the local
Immigration consultant in Canada and for that matter in India.
5. Form 5476 must be signed, by the clients, with the claimed RCIC agent or in case of
lawyers, confirmed mandate from the lawyer’s office.
