Better economic and diplomatic relations with the US is welcome. যু �রাে�র সােথ
অথর্ৈনিতক ও কূটৈনিতক সু স�কর্ �ীিতকর; But we don’t want to be in the middle of any
geopolitical spat. তেব আমরা েকােনা ভূ-রাজৈনিতক �ে�র েক� হেত চাই না;
We welcome the visit of US Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Beigun's visit that
reinforces strong ties between Bangladesh and the US and greater cooperation
between the two countries. আমরা যু �রাে�র উপ-পররা�ম�ী ি�েফন েবইগুেনর সফরেক �াগত
জানাই যা বাংলােদশ ও যু �রাে�র মেধয্ শি�শালী স�কর্ এবং দুই েদেশর মেধয্ বৃ হ�র সহেযািগতা
েজারদার কের। We hope that this visit will bring enhanced economic benefits to us in
terms of greater US investments and better opportunities for export of Bangladeshi
goods to the US market. আমরা আশা কির এই সফর বৃ হ�র মািকর্ন িবিনেয়াগ এবং মািকর্ন বাজাের
বাংলােদশী পণয্ র�ািনর উ�ত সু েযােগর পিরে�িক্ষেত আমােদর জনয্ উ�ত অথর্ৈনিতক সু িবধা িনেয় আসেব।
There is also hope that the US will help in the ongoing Rohingya crisis that Bangladesh
has been unfairly burdened with and the solution to which necessitates international
involvement.এছাড়াও আশা করা হে� েয যু �রা� চলমান েরািহ�া সংকেট সাহাযয্ করেব যা বাংলােদেশর
উপর অনয্ায়ভােব েবাঝা চািপেয় েদয়া হেয়েছ এবং এর সমাধােন আ�জর্ািতক স�ৃ �তা �েয়াজন।
According to foreign relations analysts US's new interest in Bangladesh for stronger
ties stems from the latter's sustained growth and stability over the last decade and
its geopolitical location. ৈবেদিশক স�কর্ িবে�ষকেদর মেত বাংলােদেশর �িত যু �রাে�র নতুন
আ�েহর উৎপি� গত এক দশক ধের েটকসই �বৃ ি� এবং তার ভূ-রাজৈনিতক অব�ান েথেক।
In fact Stephen Beigun has mentioned the growing interest of US companies in various
areas including trade, investment, agr-oprocessing industries, IT, pharmaceuticals,
energy and Covid-19 vaccine cooperation. �কৃতপেক্ষ ি�েফন েবইগুন বািণজয্, িবিনেয়াগ, এে�া-
ও�েসিসং ই�াি�জ, আইিট, ফামর্ািসউিটকয্ালস, এনািজর্ এবং েকািভড-১৯ টীকা সহেযািগতাসহ িবিভ�
েক্ষে� মািকর্ন েকা�ািনগুেলার �মবধর্মান আ�েহর কথা উে�খ কেরেছন। He also said that the US
has been trying to influence Myanmar regarding the treatment and restoration of the
rights of the Rohingyas and commented that all countries should work together to
end this crisis.িতিন আেরা বেলন েয যু �রা� েরািহ�ােদর িচিকৎসা এবং পুনরু�ােরর বয্াপাের
িময়ানমারেক �ভািবত করার েচ�া করেছ এবং ম�বয্ কেরেছ েয এই সংকট িনরসেন সকল েদেশর একসােথ

This is of course reassuring news for Bangladesh. এটা অবশয্ই বাংলােদেশর জনয্ সু খবর।
What is a bit worrying though is the increasing tensions between the US and China
and India and China. যিদও িকছু টা উে�গজনক িবষয় হে� আেমিরকা এবং চীন এবং ভারত ও চীেনর
মেধয্ �মবধর্মান উে�জনা। Stephen Beigun's visit also coincides with the US's advancing
into Indo-Pacific Strategy (IPS) and he has specifically mentioned, during this visit,
Indo-China tension over the Line of Control in Galwan Valley as well as alluded to
tensions (no doubt between US and China) over other countries in the region. ি�েফন
েবইগুেনর এই সফর ইে�া-পয্ািসিফক �য্ােটিজ (আইিপএস) এর িদেক এিগেয় যাওয়ার সােথ ওতে�াতভােব
জিড়ত এবং িতিন িবেশষভােব উে�খ কেরেছন, এই সফেরর সময় গালওয়ান উপতয্কায় িনয়�ণ েরখা িনেয়
ভারত-চীন উে�জনা এবং একই সােথ এই অ�েলর অনয্ানয্ েদেশর উপর উে�জনার ইি�ত (েকান সে�হ
েনই) The US Deputy Secretary of State has said that Bangladesh is a key partner in
the Indo-Pacific region and that it will be "the centrepiece" of our (US's) work in the
region. যু �রাে�র উপ-পররা� সিচব বেলেছন েয বাংলােদশ ভারত-�শা� মহাসাগরীয় অ�েলর একিট
গুরু�পূ ণর্ অংশীদার এবং এিট এই অ�েল আমােদর (যু �রাে�র) কােজর েক�িব�ু হেব।
We must emphasise here that Bangladesh does not want to be drawn into US's policy
regarding China or any conflict between India and China েয বাংলােদশ চীন বা ভারত ও
চীেনর মেধয্ েকান �� িনেয় যু �রাে�র নীিতেত আকৃ� হেত চায় না আমােদর এখােন েজার িদেত হেব as
we are interested in having the best of relations with both India and China as well
as the US, েযেহতু আমরা ভারত এবং চীন এবং আেমিরকার সােথ সেবর্া�ম স�কর্ বজায় রাখেত আ�হী,
amity that we would like to continue to maintain as part of our traditional "friendship
to all, malice to none" foreign policy advocated by Bangabandhu. ব�ব�ু �বিতর্ত আমােদর
ঐিতহয্বাহী "সবার �িত ব�ু�, িবে�ষ" এর অংশ িহেসেব আমরা বজায় রাখেত চাই। In a world that
is still reeling with the devastating human and economic costs of the Covid-19
pandemic, েয িবে� এখেনা েকািভড-১৯ মহামারীর িব�ংসী মানিবক এবং অথর্ৈনিতক খরচ চলেছ, we
hope that all countries will refrain from escalating political tensions that will only do
more harm than good to the global community. আমরা আশা কির েয সকল েদশ �মবধর্মান
রাজৈনিতক উে�জনা েথেক িবরত থাকেব যা শুধুমা� ৈবি�ক স�দােয়র ভােলার েচেয় েবশী ক্ষিত করেব।
The world is far too interconnected and collectively vulnerable to enemies like Covid-
19 and climate change to afford geopolitical spats that can spiral into destructive
conflicts.
